Anyone who reads this before sunrise needs to go outside and look north. There is an aurora borealis and it is absolutely amazing. No it's not boring like the last one was. It's so bright at first I thought it was a full moon outside. It's lighting up the whole sky. You can actually see the waves in it. My jaw still has yet to rise back up. Well, ( Read more... )

correction it was the aurora australis which is the southern lights just though I'd let ya know. :P oh and that link I gave you go to it there are some neat pics of the aurora that have been going on.

It was Aurora Borealis because Aurora Australis is the name for Auroras in the southern hemisphere. New York state was almost the furthest south that the auroras could be seen in the northern hemisphere. However, there was an Aurora Australis occuring as well, except that it could only be seen as far as northern Australia from the looks of the photos.
