I don't remember what age I was when I realized this, but I remember growing up and realizing every celebrity, every musician, every comedian, everyone that's ever done anything to make their name's household that was older than me, I was going to watch them die

I know what you're saying... but it's just strange. I think prolly because a person is forced to stop and think about the experiences they've had with that actor/comedian/musician/whatever famous person.
I dunno. George Carlin was great. It's just shocking to me because I can't remember the last time I thought about the guy, but now that you mentioned he's gone, I'm suddenly remembering the comedy routines he had, the movies he was in, the little daily calendar I had with his jokes in it.
Dunno. It matters for some reason. When someone becomes an icon of a certain point in your memory or experience, it matters when you hear they're gone. Even if you don't think of them constantly, they remind you of a part of yourself because they amused or inspired you.
Carlin mainly just amused me XD He was a funny, bitter, bitter old man- getting more bitter as the years went by.
