Talkin' to myself

Ahhhh. I feel exhausted. Moving back into the flow of things has drained me. Espicially with an hours less sleep today. Hmph. Silly time changes. D:

Just started watching Hakushaku to Yosei (Earl and Fairy), an anime about a notrious Earl and a fairy doctor he's hired. I adore any series set in England, and the characters are a mix of cruelly ( Read more... )

I remember seeing your reaction on your journal, and it's what reminded me that I've been meaning to read them. Honestly, I wish I would've just taken heed. ^^;

XD like...did you get to the end? if not this is sorta spoilery...

But...

I really enjoyed them but the ending was so...bleakly realistic for that time period, unnecessarily. And I'm like...srsly I just read 1000 pages of magical victorian girls and you couldn't given me a freakin happy ending?

I gave up mid-way through the last and read a summary. o///o Then ofc I was like, 'OMFG! WHAT?' so I just went back and forced myself to read it, to see just how this crazy ending unfolded.

But my reaction was the same. I'm a sucker for happy endings, and that made me want to cry. Ffff---annoyery, man.

i can't believe the Great and Terrible Beauty was made into a trilogy. I had no idea what they could have possibly be about so I never read them;;

It was awful. Be happy you didn't have to go through major time wastage like the rest of us.

Oh yes, Hakushaku to Yosei is a nice anime. I remember loving the settings, although I think I liked the first half of the series better than the second one. (Not that the later half was bad, I just lost interest a little.)

Wow, you've been doing a lot of reading indeed. Havemercy has been on my to-read list for a while, and now you're making me want to pick it to read next. And after that, Shadow Magic too, of course. And yes, Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell is lovely. Now I want to reread it too. <3

I feel kind of bad for never having read any of Murakami's books, but I'm planning to do it soon. My sister likes him a lot, she always tries to make me check out his works.

Also, The Fionavar Tapestry! \o/ I love it, as I love most works of Guy Gavriel K. Have fun reading it!

Diana Wynne Jones will definitely be missed by a lot of fans. My favorite works of hers were How's Moving Castle and Power of Three, but I've loved pretty much everything I've read from her.

Hakushaku is such a pretty anime. All the scenery and characters are seriously beautiful. I agree with you about losing interest though. This half isn't as exciting as the first, but I'll finish it through. I wanna see what happens~

We is fantasy buddies, non? :D I cannot recommend Havemercy enough, and I'll let you decided whether the authors are good enough to carry on with. Also, Kay is...nnngh. I don't get how one person can be filled with such creativity. I'm half-way through The Summer Tree! It's so good! :D

All I can say is that at least she left awesome books for people to remember her by. I haven't read Power of Three, but I think I'm going to make more of an effort to read the rest of her works.

Yes, I love the character designs, they're all so pretty. I especially liked Lydia's hair, haha.

I've read Havemercy now! I started on Monday and finished it last night (it was hard to stop reading). You're right, it's really good - I loved the dialogues and the settings, not to mention the four main characters and their interactions. Or well, I wasn't that fond of Rook at first but in the end I couldn't help feeling for him too. Hal was my favorite, I think. Also, the dragons! So cool. *.* My only complaint would be the lack of female characters, although it didn't bother me as much as it usually does. Now I want to read the next book!

Lydia's "caramel/rust coloured hair." Lololol. Obviously, a fine point from her view. :]

YES! Another Havemercy reader! 8D I sorta loved Rook (and even named a character in one of my own novels after him XD), even if he was a pig. I loved all the dragon-riders though. The idea of having these hard-partyers in that setting made me laugh. I also have a thing for guys in uniform, so.... >///<

And ofc the steampunk dragons themselves! I think the lack of females characters was made up for with the fierceness that is Havemercy herself. XD

You better not get to the last book before me! :P I'm definitely buying it the first chance I get. It's unfortunately not in libraries here yet. Sad times.

I didn't saw/read Hakushaku to Yosei,but it looks pretty good...so thanks :)
Oh yeah, I still have to watch Pandora Hearts...And I should start to re-read black Black Butler. The only manga from Victorian era that I read to the end was Cain...and I was really sad when it ended. (it looks so plain - sad. it should be - crushed).
Diana W. Jones...thats really sad. I remember when I was crushed because of death of Arnošt Lustig, so I can understand.
