In a losing fight

I just made a sort of tumblr post about how I feel about the rioting going on right now. I'd known it was going on around the Camden borough, but it's spread to quick for comfort since I've gotten back home. It shocked me that they'd got to Clapham - a mere 10 minutes away from me - but then I thought about it. It those areas, isn't it? Areas like ( Read more... )

I was hoping to hear from you soon.

I'm a bit scared by what is happening and I really hope police does its best to calm everything down, but... yeah. I have had the same impression.
I mean, what they're doing is completely wrong, since they're just destroying and robbing everything, but I have felt that there must be real anger behind these actions, and so far the BBC showed Scotland Yard and so on, but some reporters were saying how they listened to some boys or girls talking, and how these - though not taking part to the actions - did agree or feel the same anger. They said policemen were racist and so on.

I'm really sorry that the situation got this bad and brought to this. Hopefully they'll calm down and find a peaceful way to show their opinions and such.

I hope you'll be safe, let us know how things go. *hugs*

Ah, thank you. <3 Yes, it was horrible. A friend of mine could see the glow of the Croydon fire (they burnt a huge, old furniture shop - like, seriously, it was built in 1867, damn them) from her window, and she lives ages away from there. For once, the media didn't have to exgarrate things...

And like I said, I do get what might be running through their heads, but either way, Myst, what they did was totally, totally wrong. People actually died today. Anger or no, it's on that's on their shoulder.

*sigh* It's sort of moved away from London, and the police are focusing on catching the thieves. More than 600 kids were arrested today, ha! But it's going further up north to other cities. Since those people died, their police forces won't be so lenient for much longer either. Thank god. I hate the British way of Policing sometimes. >:/

That’s absolutely awful, there have been lots of reports about the riots here but it’s still hard to imagine what it must be like to be in the middle of them. I hope it stops soon. Take care, ok? *hugs*

Thankyou. ♥ Things have calmed down here, and people are slowly trying to fix things up. What matters now is catching the idiots, which is already underway. Awesome people are identifying the thieves through twitter and such and helping the police. Makes you feel there's still some hope left, y'know?

I hope you are doing alright in amongst all of this. I have a friend near Clapham who was freaking out when she could see the fire getting closer to her. It's awful. They've started doing it up this end in Bristol as well for no good reason. They're rioting for the sake of rioting now. Their reasoning is jus pathetic excuses, complaints about tax they dont even pay and claiming they're doing it to show rich people they can do what they want - yeah by destroying small family businesses owned by the working class.
Makes me so mad. Theyre just thugs and luckily are lot are getting named and shamed through spreading photos around places like Twitter and posts they make to boast their steals. Idiots.

Stay safe :) and I hope this gets calms down before it gets worse.

Thank you. <3 Thankfully the rioting seemed to stay away about a ten minute radius from me.

Oh, Bristol. The only place where they were doing their Police-ing right. Everyone kept waiting for them to break out the water cannons here, but to no avail. :/

And I so agree with you. They burnt a huge, old furniture shop - like, seriously, it was built in 1867, damn them - for what? That place wasn't like the Sony distribution centre, or the Debenhams stores, or even the small, but countless JD shops... it made me so mad. >:/

I'm happy people are pulling their weight and trying to help fix things up. I went to help a big group of people help clean up Clapham today, and those awesome people who are being fearless and naming people on social networking sites. Ah, there is justice in the world~
