A Kiss And A Bite. I meant to post this on Christmas D: but at least I was able to post it before New Years. XD
Summary: It had been three months since that fateful encounter and now, they have another chance to be together.
Ahh, neighbour’s next door were partying as hell again. Day and night. Night and Day. It’s not even Christmas yet! Sure, final’s over and all but hell! Where do those people get their energy? At least, it’s over for now...
“Hey, Rei-chan, your cell’s ringing. Why aren’t you picking it up?” Aoi asked with a raised brow as he stood right in front of Reita’s room. This was the fourth time he tried calling him. For God’s sake, it’s two in the afternoon! And he was in the middle of cleaning up too. His thin white sweater and his black jeans were half covered in dust. He held the blonde’s phone up with one hand and pressed the other against his jean-clad hip. “Your ring tone’s starting to annoy me.”
On the other side of the room, a lone figure who was sleeping quite comfortably groaned loudly in irritation. Heavy plum-colored drapery obscured the only two windows in the room, blocking the sunlight and shrouding everything into darkness.
Reita cursed under his breath. He was not liking the fact that Aoi’s interrupting his sleep because of one goddamn phone call.
“Reita?”
Oh, there he goes again. What’s this? No suffix? That must mean he’s getting impatient. Sighing inaudibly to himself, he sluggishly removed himself from the bed and strode towards the door with slow, heavy steps. He swung the door open with a growl, only to cover his face with a hand and slid the door back halfway with the other. “What is wrong with you? Don’t you remember anything about my dilemma?”
Aoi raised a brow once more. The other man’s wearing nothing but indigo blue sweatpants. And during Winter too? “...Right. Just take your phone and I won’t bother you till the sun’s down, got it?”
“Ugh, why couldn’t you just give it to me around dinner time?” The blonde rubbed his forehead miserably, eyes shut tight.
“Because you’ll act this way eventually around dinner time. I just want to take some of that away.” The older man replied, extending the device in his hand to him. Reita begrudgingly grabbed it moments later.
Glaring at his room mate, he then turned away and grumbled, “Shut up.”
“Uh huh, love you too. You can go back to sleep now. I need to get some cleaning done before going out. I promise I’d get you something to eat later on.” He gave a small wave and trotted off to the living room.
Reita watched him go with a snort before returning back to his dark sanctuary. His feet shuffled against the smooth wooden floor as he sighed tiredly. By the time he reached the side of the bed, his body flopped down resignedly onto the soft mattress. This is definitely not a good day. I wonder who called me though? I should meet up with them and give them hell for interrupting my goddamn sleep!
Lifting the cell phone to his face, the blonde pressed the button to the missed call. A name then popped up. Immediately, he raised a brow in surprise and mirth.
Well, well...after three whole months, he decided to finally call, eh? he thought, grinning at the name “Ruki” on the top of his list. I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to send him an innocent text message. I’m in no mood for talk at the moment.
--
Ruki’s cell suddenly chirped. He glanced at the pocket of his khakis in surprise. Now who could that be, he wondered.
Pulling out the device, he flipped it open to find a new text message. The blonde (who used to be a brunette due to the long, wavy wig he wore at the Halloween party), felt immensely confused. No one had sent a message to him before. His phone was practically new. He bought it right before the beginning of October and so far, only five names had been registered. (his last phone had the rest of the phone numbers but he didn’t realized that the numbers were registered in the phone’s memory and not in the card memory; thus, he lost most of it after losing it somewhere in the dorm where he, Uruha, and Kai resided.)
Ruki pressed the read button and read silently, “Long time no talk, eh? I want to ask you out. Tomorrow night. 8:00 PM. Toki Café by Tokyo U. If you don’t know where that is, ask Uru-chi. Kai-chi might know too. See you there. Reita.”
Oh...it’s just Reita...wait, WHAT?? Reita texted me! That means he knew that I called...or more like, Uruha pressed the number for me and made me call! Ahhh, I just wish he wasn’t so persistent about calling. Now where would Toki Café be? he walked out of his room, still staring down at his phone in thought. Bad move though.
“Heeeey, you should watch where you’re going, Ru.” Ruki abruptly looked up to find Uruha huffing slightly in mock-annoyance.
“Oh, sorry about that, Uru. Hey, do you know where’s Toki Cafe’s at?”
The tall blonde raised a brow. “Yeah, I do. Why?”
“Reita asked me out.” was the soft, embarrassed reply. Upon hearing this, Uruha grinned widely.
“Ohhh, I see. What time?” he asked, a little too innocently for Ruki’s liking. He was definitely up to something.
“At eight in the evening.”
“Okay, so you have six hours left. Hmm...let’s go find Kai, kay?”
Ruki blinked at the suggestion and nodded.
--
Ruki had no idea where to start but Uruha had made him dress up and together, they headed out to the car. (he decided to go with a crimson long sleeved shirt, thick black vest, black jeans, and tennis shoes. He couldn’t understand why he had to dress up. Uruha was only wearing a white sweater and blue jeans after all.)
“Um...do you know where you’re going, Uruha?” he asked, a bit puzzled.
“Well...I have a feeling.” he replied, making a turn.
“Oh, by the way, in the text message, Reita called you and Kai 'Uru-chi and Kai-chi'. Do you guys know each other or something?”
The taller man smirked smugly. “I suppose you could say we’re friends of a friend.”
“Oh.”
After that, there was silence. Half an hour later, Ruki turned to the blonde and asked, “Where are we going? This looked like the shopping district.”
“It is the shopping district...only that it’s near Tokyo U.” Uruha answered, stopping at a red light and watching a crowd of people pass by.
“What? Really? Wait, we’re going to the Café?”
“Bingo! Glad you caught on pretty quickly.”
“I thought we’re going to find Kai.” The younger man frowned.
“He’s around somewhere.”
“Uruha?” Ruki spoke up softly.
“Yeah?” was the equally soft reply.
“What the hell is he doing here then?”
“He’s on a date.” Uruha tilted his head to the side.
“Really now? With who?” The younger blonde raised a brow.
“You’ll find out.” he replied, turning the car to the small parking lot at the side of Toki Café. “Oookay, we’re here.”
Getting out of the car, Ruki waited for Uruha to lock the car and followed.
The café was small but its appearance stood out with its colourful design and pastries. It seemed like a pretty popular place considering the amount of people coming in and out of the building.
“This place is nice.” he commented with a nod.
Uruha grinned. “Glad you think so. Oh, hey, there’s Kai.”
Ruki followed the other man’s finger to the café and lo and behold, there was Kai, chatting happily with...
“My god, is that Aoi?!”
The older man laughed. “You didn’t know? Hey, Aoi! Kai!”
The two men sitting in front of the café turned to see two blondes; one who was waving with both arms in excitement and the other waving with an awkward smile.
“Well, what do we have here? Two stalkers, I presume?" Aoi leaned back against the thin white chair, raising an eyebrow in question.
"How rude. We were just walking by." Uruha replied, pouting and striding towards the two men.
"You're so cute when you lie." Kai grinned knowingly.
"Uh...what is going on here?" Ruki piped up, feeling a bit left out.
"What? Don't tell me you haven't told him yet, Uru-chi?" the dark-haired man exclaimed in shock.
The tall blonde scratched his head. "Eheh...didn't know where to start..."
Kai gestured Ruki to come a little closer. The other man obliged. "Well...here's how it goes...Aoi, Uruha, and I...are together."
The shorter man gawked, dumbstruck. "...Since when....?"
The brunette shrugged. "About a year."
“An...An entire year?!” Ruki exclaimed. He really couldn’t hold down his astonishment to the new revelation. “That long already? And you never bother to tell me this?...And the same to Reita too?”
“Oh, Rei-chan knew. He was there with us.” Aoi grinned thoughtfully.
“I don’t think I want to know anymore. Where exactly is Reita, anyway?”
“Still back at the dorms. Doesn’t like to go out during the day. He usually goes outside and takes classes during the evening.” The older man explained, scooping up a fairly large piece of his lemon cake into his mouth. “He was raised that way, you know?”
“Mm-hm, not to mention that he never picks up his cell during the day either. He always leaves a text message like...hours later.” Uruha added with a nod.
A ha ha...so that how it goes, eh? Ruki thought with a small chuckle.
“Anyways~Kai-chi and I are done with our date so...let’s go on another! How about a four-way date?” The ebony-haired suggested brightly, stretching his arms and tossing the now empty paper plates and cups to the trash bin behind him.
“W-Well, I thi-“ Ruki was then interrupted by the brunette.
“Great idea! We haven’t gone to the clothing shops in a long time.”
“Wait, I-“
“Come on, Ruki. We need to get you some new clothes!” The taller blonde called out as he dragged him after Aoi and Kai.
“Don’t use that as an excuse! We all know you wanted new clothing!” Aoi countered.
“Hey, Uru-“
“I do not! I-well, maybe”
“See? See?” Everyone laughed. All but Ruki.
He sighed heavily and gave up.
--
Back at the dorm hours later, Reita grumbled softly as the alarm clock continued to ring. His brows knitted in annoyance. Without prying his eyes open, he pressed the ‘sleep’ button hard with a fist before rising into a sitting position. As he did, he shook his head sluggishly and scratched the back of his head.
This was definitely not his day (or night, for that matter). Somewhere up there, God must’ve hated him.
Glancing back at his (almost broken) clock, he found it was nearly time. A grin tugged against his lip. Oh, he’ll have some fun tonight.
Feeling a bit energetic, he got off the bed and strode off to the bathroom to prepare himself for his date.
--
Ruki sighed for the umpteenth time that day (and night). Hours ago, Uruha kept pestering him about trying new clothes for his date. Aoi and Kai were not much of a help with that. A good thing, he thought, but...he wished that they could’ve helped him with Uruha by dragging him somewhere and let him try on clothes. Instead, they were off somewhere in the store, flirting and trying on clothes themselves.
“Ooh! Try these next! These looked soooo good. I think these would look great for your date~” Uruha pressed a few hangers of clothing that consisted of a thin black tank top, fitting black dress pant that was accessorized with small silver chains and belt, and a black silk jacket to match. (A/N: Think Cassis.)
The short blonde tilted his head back with a small frown before giving in. He took them and headed towards the dressing room with a sigh.
In the end, they went with the outfit and Uruha bought a few more accessories and a pair of slim black leather shoes to go with it. Now, he had two pendant chain necklaces around his neck and a thin silver chain bracelet and ring on one hand.
The taller man was simply thrilled by his work and dragged him back to the café around seven before leaving with Aoi and Kai.
Ruki sighed again. One good thing was that the shopping’s over. The bad thing...well, now he has to wait for about an hour.
Fortunately, he didn’t have to wait long. Reita arrived half an hour before eight, dressed in a red turtleneck, deep crimson overcoat, and black cargo pants and boots. His blond hair was still styled the same way the last time they'd met, even better probably. Ruki couldn't explain why.
"Hey." Reita's voice was deep and smooth as ever.
The younger man smiled shyly. "Hey...long time no see."
"Indeed. You haven't called me in three months. I would've called you...then again, I never did got your number." The tall blonde smirked. It was a complete and utter lie. He had asked Uruha for his number right before he and Aoi left the party, but Ruki doesn't need to know that.
“Oh…” Ruki bit his lower lip, averting his gaze away from the other man. “I didn’t know I’d be sleeping throughout the rest of the party. Should I…” He then returned the gaze with a light teasing. “apologize for that?”
Reita raised a brow, his smirk widening diminutively. “I believe that seem to be the best solution. Why not come over here and give me a proper apology?”
Ruki obliged. He got out of his seat and headed towards the taller man as if he was a magnet. Standing inches away from him, he scratched his arm with one hand and glanced away. “I apolo-huh?”
He felt fingers beneath his chin, gesturing him to face the blonde. He was then stunned to find lips pressed against his moments later. “Mmp?”
It was then that his mind went back to that memory. He remembered the same feeling when he danced with Reita...only he also remembered the scene after that.
Reita bit him once.
He took a step back, away from Reita's soft and tender kiss. The taller man raised a perplexed brow.
"R...Reita..." he began, blushing lightly. "Did you...bite me during that party?"
He expected that Reita would give an answer but he recieved none. Instead, he noticed his eyes dulled slightly.
Moments later, he spoke up, a bit haughtily. "...So what if I did? Are you going to report me? Call others to drive my heart through with a stake? Are you going to...run away from me?"
Ruki heard Reita's voice faltered through the last sentence. It sounded like...this kind of situation had happened to him before.
"Are you going to leave me, now that you know I'm a vampire...?"
Stepping forward, he hesitantly reached out to the blonde and wrapped his arms around his waist. "...You...are the most biggest idiot I've ever met. So what if you are a vampire? You're still you, aren't you?"
"What if I'm not me?" he then whispered.
"Then I'm an even bigger idiot for falling for you." The younger man replied, bluntly.
A soft laugh was heard above him. Reita was laughing?
Ruki grinned widely and tilted his head up to meet Reita's smiling face.
Hugging him back, Reita murmured, "I'm glad I met you."
"Me too." was the reply.
"Now, how about that date?"
"Of course. Come on, there's this clothing shop I've been dying to check out..."
End.
A/N: Wow...8 pages of nothing. XD My longest work yet! ^(*-*)^
