Vancouver is the world's easiest city to live in?

Apparently SoI find it strange. They ranked the cities of the world based on "health-care, stability, culture and environment, education and infrastructure". The survey says that "Any city with a score above 80 percent "will have few, if any, challenges to living standards ( Read more... )

I also wondered how much they took cost of living into consideration, because I don't think anyone earning minimum wage and trying to pay rent in this town would agree that it's so easy to live here.

ETA: that is not to say that I think Vancouver is "so hard" to live in. I recognize we have it very good here in Canada. But perhaps other Canadian cities with lower costs of living might be "easier"? I don't know.

Yeah I know that rent is pretty hugely expensive compared to other Canadian cities that seem to have the same things that we do or more in terms of culture, we have similar health care even though it's provincially mandated but BC's is getting closer to being privatized, our environment is being slowly taken over by condos, the education in BC is also being privatized and I agree that our infrastructure is pretty cool in some ways but could also be improved.

I would think that Montreal or Halifax or something would really trump us, honestly,

Yeah, Montreal came to mind for me as well.

Also, um, what about our rising crime rates? Just sayin...
