I woke up in the night with the tentacles of a cold wrapped around my throat. It is sore this morning, on one side only as through I have swallowed a safety razor. I am waiting for the painkillers to kick in so that I may do talking. In the mean time I am drinking coffee for medicinal purposes rather than for pleasure

Yup, I had to call the tech support line of the smoke alarm manufacturer to ask them how to remove mine! But at least mine started beeping during daylight hours...

I have had nights like that. I worked out eventually that the reason smoke alarm batteries *always* go at 3 am is probably because it gets really cold. That's my thoughts anyway. All our smoke alarms did that in turn over about a week.
