I have not kept up with new music for about a decade. Not even new alternative music. I got a burst of DJing enthusiasm when I started but even by the mid 2000s I ran out of motivation to keep up with the new stuff. Particularly when everyone who was out at the clubs just wanted to dance to the old stuff. No one minded that I'd been playing the same set for four years, and that even that set mainly consisted of 10-30 year old songs.

Past a certain age, desire to seek out the new vanishes, and at the same time we are bored with the old, so what is left?

I do hope you find your groove again.

It's not new music it is *any* music. When I go for a long car journey now I pack comedy to listen to rather than tunes.

I am shocked and saddened to hear of your breakup with music. I can only hope that music comes to its senses and returns to you.

I have absolutely no enthusiasm for it at all. Can you imagine, the days of going down the front and starting a pit just for the hell of it ... gone.

Yesterday I tried listening to some of the songs that used to flood me with adrenalin; you'd have thought that the opening notes of Vengeance, Temple of Love ... nothing
