I hope that tonight is better for you. Much sympathy.

well to be fair I did not make it terribly easy for him as a non-smoker who exercises regularly has no current symptoms of depression, does not drink coffee after lunch, has blackout blinds, who is no longer running on a diet of stress and cortisol.
If the melatonin doesn't work he'll give me THREE sleeping tablets; which will be an exciting treat
Melatonin seems to help Kira reasonably -- I take it out of superstition, if nothing else (may be a placebo effect, but I'm not turning down anything that might help.)
She and I have both been insomniacs since early childhood (as was my Dad), made worse by chronic pain.
We also take Lunesta, which DOES help quite a bit, but I know that sleeping-pill prescriptions are a lot harder to get in the UK.
Hope the melatonin helps you -- or that the prescription does, if not.
And, yeah -- doctors don't seem to know what to do with patients who don't have many obvious vices to cut out.
I found the Superdrug own brand herbal sleeping tablets were helpful. They're a take an hour before you want to sleep thing, hops valerian and something else I have forgotten.
There are other things which might help, gimme a call if you want a natter about it.
