just pounding some thoughts out while walking to the bus

I belong to the City
to the nitty-Gritty
the pounding feet
the humming street
I belong to the
glittering, gum-stained sidewalks

My feet know the stairs,
the escalators,
the elevators

I belong to the skyline
to Times Square at dawn
midnights in subway stations
bus exhaust
I belong to skyscrapers
and to the sirens that wail up and down the blocks

poem, winter, fall, commuting, city

favorite moment: "I belong to the / glittering, gum-stained sidewalks"

in other news, i should email you a pile of my neuroses (neurosi?). it might be good for a laugh.

in other, other news, i realized that i'm making chicago my home, and after we leave virginia ... this is kinda where i'd like to return. except part of me wants to move back east. maybe, in some perfect world, i'll get into the cinema studies program at university of chicago, and, after that, relocate to the east coast and become a star of the written word on film or some crazy programmer that people think knows what's up. because i'm torn between falling in love with chicago and missing everyone on the east coast.

but you, my darling miss bis, you were meant for new york in the best kind of way.
