You're right... I'm a little rough around the edges at times. I wrote this when I was really upset about something else, hoping this would get my mind off it.
Earth Day in itself isn't bad. I'm all for celebrating the Earth, but on an appropriate day. We should be honoring the one who made the earth, not worshiping the Earth itself, which is a tradition that goes back to Pagan culture for the Solstice (which happens this week.) I mean, seriously, you're talking to someone who is strictly organic and brings her own shopping bags to stores. However, Earth Day is a HUGE distraction today. People have the right to choose what they celebrate, but Christians have a commitment today to honor. They need to honor that commitment instead of getting distracted by human rituals of Earth worshiping. This is as much a Pagan time of year as it is a Christian one, and it's dangerously easy to put our thoughts and energy into the Pagan side. That's a warning to Christians
