Soohyun watched from the sidelines and saw his heart break. Yet he wasn’t a selfish guy, he only knew that when he saw someone with the same plight.
Being the older brother U-KISS members find comfort in, Soohyun was there for Kevin throughout his heartbreak. He stood by Kevin, wrapped his strong arms around the slim waist for that comfort the younger one needed, and pulled him to practice when Kevin was about to give it all up.
“You can’t. We’ve got to do this.” Soohyun sighed as he ruffled the younger’s head lovingly. “Do it for the group, please?”
“I’ll try.” Kevin managed a small smile.
And he continued watching over the younger ones in the group, he watched and thought he saw another heart break. He didn’t want to intervent, so he just waited until that someone found out.
But Kibum was an idiot. He didn’t know his own heart broke, like how Soohyun didn’t know his own did.
Kevin was out one day, and Soohyun tried to hide his evergrowing feelings as he confronted Kibum.
“You know this is wrong.” Soohyun stated one day, when Kibum and Kiseop were taking selcas. “It’s not Kiseop.”
Kiseop stared at Soohyun with widened eyes while Kibum only sighed. Soohyun avoided Kiseop’s eyes and waited for Kibum’s reply.
“I-I don’t get you.” Kibum tried denying.
“Go on then. Just know that your hands murdered someone’s heart and twisted it so bad, he’s hurting till he can’t breathe.” Soohyun rolled his eyes. “I didn’t want to do this, but I guess you needed someone to tell you.”
Kibum blinked at his hands in confusion.
“Those hands that caressed another person’s face, held someone else’s hand, left around another’s waist. Who was it before Kiseop? You know better than I do, don’t you?”
Kibum slowly looked up and stared at Soohyun. “Where is he?”
“Finding you.” Soohyun shook his head with a sigh.
“I’m-I’m right here...”
“In his memories, Kibum. He wants the old you back, and if present can’t satisfy his needs, he runs back to the past.”
And that was all Kibum needed to run off in the direction of the past. Where they shared their dreams over a cup of tea (because Kevin didn’t like coffee and Kibum wanted to share), where they cuddled close in the coldest winter and wore jackets in the warmest summer just so they had a reason to be hugging.
Kiseop glared at Soohyun, tears welling up in his eyes. “Why did you do that to me? What about me?!”
Soohyun pulled Kiseop into a hug. “You know it isn’t Kibum you love. You just don’t look all happy with his company.”
“Yes, but that someone I love is too dense to understand!” Kiseop screamed, but hugged Soohyun’s body closer.
Those arms that welcomed him the first time he stepped into U-KISS’s practice room.
“Let me be the replacement for him then.”
“You don’t understand...” that person is you...
“Kibum shouldn’t have been your choice. You know the thing between them exists.”
“Then who should I find?”
When you comfort Kevin like that, what should I do with my broken heart? They were already drifting apart, and the first action you took was to stay beside Kevin. Kibum-hyung and I just took comfort in the presence of someone else in the same situation. He didn’t know that was the case, but I knew. I wanted you to take notice of me too, why didn’t you sense my sorrow instead?
“If...If you don’t mind, you could always find me.” Soohyun bit his lower lip, awaiting for any signs of rejection.
Kiseop only tightened his grip.
“Hyung...It...It was always you.” Kiseop figured his heart had suffered enough. A straightforward rejection wouldn’t break it anymore. “I love you.”
Soohyun froze.
It was as if his dream came true.
“A play by fate? That we had to go through four heartbreaks to find out that we were the one that were right for each other? Kiseop, I-I love you too.” Soohyun confessed and let Kiseop pull away, tears already streaming down his cheeks.
“Are you sure? I don’t want your pity if that’s what you’re trying to do.” Kiseop frowned.
“I didn’t think you would love me. I just don’t deserve you, so I kept it in.”
“Idiot, who are you to say if you deserve me or not?” Kiseop sobbed, whacking Soohyun once for being an idiot.
Soohyun smiled slightly and leaned in, capturing Kiseop’s lips with his own. Kiseop slightly parted his lips and that was all the signal he had to give for Soohyun to sneak his tongue into the younger’s mouth, deepening their first kiss. The moment lasted for a while, before Kiseop pulled away with a slight blush tainting his cheeks.
“Maybe the heartbreaks were there to make this ending sweeter.” Kiseop smiled as Soohyun wiped his tears away for him. “I hope the other two ends happily too.”
“They will.” Soohyun nodded and kissed Kiseop again. “They’ve been through more.”

Extra Kemaru, just because I’m biased.

“Kevin!” Kibum took in deep breaths and finally saw the younger man right before him. “Kevin!”
Kevin slowly turned around, managing a wide smile. “Oh, hello!”
Kibum ran up to Kevin and hugged him close, ignoring the gasps and the many camera flashes. “Let’s find somewhere private so we can-”
“I don’t think there’s much to say...” Kevin smiled slightly, eyes despondent.
“Idiot, who says we were going to talk?” Kibum grabbed Kevin’s hand and pulled him along as they ran away from the cameras and public eye, running faster than they had ever ran.
“I can’t run anymore!” Kevin yelled, stopping suddenly and falling forward because Kibum was still pulling him. He fell on all fours and glared at Kibum. “Speak here or something! My arm’s about to fall off!”
“I already said we weren’t talking.” Kibum grinned a little, squatting down before Kevin. “Get on me.”
“What?” Kevin blinked in confusion.
“We used to do that, didn’t we? Come on, get on and I’ll run.” Kibum took both Kevin’s hand and brought them around his neck, taking Kevin’s legs in his hands and then standing up to run.
“Why...why are you doing this, hyung?” Kevin asked as he hugged Kibum’s neck tighter. He already had a reason made up in his mind. He was afraid he would fall.
“I wasn’t sure of myself before, but I love you too.”
Kevin widened his eyes. “Hey! Who said I love you!? How could you just put words into my mouth as if I said it?”
Kibum found an alley and dropped Kevin immediately, pinning him against the wall and crashing their lips together. Kibum devoured the younger’s lips mercilessly for a moment before pulling away, breathless.
“You didn’t pull away.” Kibum stuck out a tongue.
“I-I...There’s no space behind me!” Kevin pouted. “All right, it’s...it’s true. I love you.”
“I think our order is wrong.” Kibum chuckled. “Forget it, I knew your answer anyway.”
“Don’t...don’t go back to Kiseopie...all right?” Kevin requested in a small voice. “I...I don’t like it...”
“I wouldn’t, from now onwards, it’s only you.” Kibum kissed Kevin again.
