Prologue “Again, cleaning this dirty room. Do I have some sort of fate with you, wall?" Kevin huffed, looking at the liquid mess all over the tables and floor, apparatus thrown all over the place. It wasn’t supposed to be this way, but he got frustrated with cleaning and accidentally used the wrong spell, causing the mess to be even worse than before.
For sleeping in class, poor Kevin had been instructed by his teacher to clean up the potions laboratory, which looked like it had undergone an explosion after the lesson was done (and his addition to it). It certainly didn’t help that the brushes and rags were magically enhanced to float, and somehow didn’t like him.
“Hey, come back!” A brush that Kevin had intended to use floated away from his grip, laughing mockingly at him.
The brush was a menace (so was it’s laughter); Kevin had to chase it around the classroom and there were times the brush was way too high for him to grab. It certainly did not help his situation at all, knowing his magical abilities were as good as those of a three-year-old. Maybe even worse.
Unbeknownst to Kevin, someone he barely knew was walking pass the classroom. This unknown person happened to see him running around after the brush like an idiot, stopping curiously to watch him for a second longer.
Just when Kevin managed to grab the brush and wanted to start washing again, he felt a tap on his shoulder. He would have let out a loud scream if he hadn’t noticed the high quality robes worn by the man that had approached him. High quality robes only meant one thing: a professor.
“Oh, you scared me there!” Kevin placed his hand on his chest and let out a breath, as if pressing on his heart to keep it within his ribcage.
“Who are you? Our new cleaner?” Alexander ignored Kevin and crossed his arms, slightly frowning and scanning him from top to toe.
“Huh? Cleaner? No…” Kevin embarrassedly replied, face turning red due to the fact that he was actually mistaken for a cleaner. Was he really that bad a student?
“Really? Why haven’t I seen you around before?” Alexander scratched his head, as if trying to recall whether he had seen Kevin around school.
“Probably because I’m from Patria…” Kevin murmured, his voice gradually becoming a whisper.
Alexander nodded in acknowledgement, looking around the room. It was extremely dirty and being the neat person he was with obsessive compulsive disorder, he couldn’t stand the sight. With a wave of his wand, the room was sparkling clean once more; the liquid mess cleared, apparatus back to its original position.
Kevin stared in amazement, dropping the brush he had been holding, though the brush float back up and muttered angrily on how carelessly Kevin was handling him. (“Hey! Hey! How dare you! I’m older than you! At least fifty years old!”)
“You can do that?!” Kevin asked excitedly, eyes brightening.
“Of course, darling.” Alexander smiled, having a habit of addressing students he don’t know the name of dearly. “Hm…maybe you haven’t learnt that, don’t fret yourself over it.”
“Well… I am always looked down upon for being the weakest.” Kevin quickly looked back down on the floor, as if guilty of speaking. “I’m supposed to know how to do that already…it was tested last semester…”
Alexander nodded slightly, looking sympathetically at Kevin. He thought about the issue for a while, before snapping his fingers, gaining Kevin’s attention.
“Lessons. With me. Every Friday night in my office. I expect to see you tonight with your wand.”
With that, Alexander turned around on his heel and left Kevin in the laboratory, mouth opened as if the information was going into his brain through his mouth.
(Maybe that’s why he doesn’t understand things well, it went in the wrong way.)

“Sica caeli!” Kibum commanded confidently, sending the latin spell working its magic on Kiseop. Kiseop felt a sharp pain at his arm, noticing it was strategically only an inch and a half away from his heart.
“Impetum.” The younger of the two said quietly, not once fearing any elements of the friendly battle. Instead, he had been training for two weeks.
“Scutum.” Kibum dropped to the floor and jumped right back up. With three waves of his wand and a soft mumbling, he spoke his last spell loudly. “Annulus ignis.”
Kiseop jumped slightly as he was engulfed in fire. Not really, but there was a circle surrounding him, this circle raising flames to lick his skin dangerously, instantly making him sweat.
Cheers erupted, and both knew who won.
Kibum casted a wind spell to overcome the ring of fire, even passing Kiseop a healing potion he had prepared beforehand. He stretched out his other arm to shake Kiseop's hand, eyes smiling. “You improved.”
“Not as much as you did.” Kiseop shook his head. “You're unreachable.”
“Kibum's so cool!” A girl squealed.
“Thanks.” Kibum instantly replied to the crowd, smilng while addressing foreign faces. “But it's just a ring of fire, you guys will all be able to execute it well too. Practise it on your soft toy bunny, I assure you things will work.”
“Care for a drink?” Kiseop offered. “For agreeing to this fight.”
"Sure, why not?" Kibum shrugged, grinning. "A drink's always welcomed. Furthermore, I'm craving for some right now."
Kiseop smiled, turning to bow at the audience that formed the moment news got out that it was the time of the month for a friendly battle. Kibum followed suit, politely wearing a small smile. The crowd, who had been observing them intently since they conversed, squealed at the two pretty boys’ actions.
The two respected wizards then left the scene side by side, an unplanned neat row of line formed by the students to make way for them as they stepped down from the battle platform.
“Back to what we were talking about before I got interrupted.” Kibum started. “I’m not unreachable, I’m sure everyone in this school is capable of it. I just happen to memorise better.”
“And apply.” Kiseop corrected. “If it was all about memorising, the nerd in my class would have won you in the last interclass competition. He’s crazy about your talent, you might want to steer clear of his way.”
Kibum chuckled, shaking his head as he gestured Kiseop to turn at the junction. “I’m no talent.”
“Humble, as always.” Kiseop nodded with a smile. “No wonder the school cohort loves you to death.”
“You’re kidding me.” Kibum laughed. Kiseop only replied with a secretive smile.
