(Special) Chapter 13

Kyujong covered his ears and tightly shut his eyes. Youngsaeng tugged Kyujong’s arm.

“Yeah?” Kyujong asked.

“Don’t cover your ears, I’m suffering too. Your parents arranged this so you better be the one in front. My parents didn’t make me come.” Youngsaeng sulked.

Kyujong sighed but knew Youngsaeng was right. He then involuntarily stepped forward towards the many little children.

Yes, many little children. Exactly what you’ll expect in an orphanage. It was in the early afternoon where the older children are at school and the adults are at work, so all that was left were the little ones. Kyujong and Youngsaeng had a mission when they came here. The mission, is to adopt.

Obviously, after the two parties’ companies merged into one, there must be a successor. The couple being both of the same gender, are unable to conceive a child and thus, the adoption.

It definitely isn’t bad, I mean, children are full of life and fun! They brighten up your day, they cuddle with you when they have nightmares, they say the most adorable things and they are so small, so cute!

However, you’re talking to two males. Two males who are undeniably in love, and two males who would appreciate time together without any wailings and changing of diapers.

And how would they convince the child that his parents’ relationship is not a crime, though widely unaccepted by the society? The child is going to grow up disgusted by his parents’ relationship and walk out on them instead of taking over their career.

And so Kyujong argued with his parents, Youngsaeng with his in-laws. Failed.

“How about our time together?!” Kyujong whined while Youngsaeng blushed. Kyujong’s not supposed to say that out loud to the parents! It’s supposed to be a secret behind closed doors!

“Okay. We’ll take care of the child on weekdays and you’ll take him out on weekends since we’re too old to go out.” Kyujong’s mother agreed, but Kyujong only argued more.

“Then why not a nanny?!” Kyujong pleaded. “Pleaseeeeeee!”

“Then the child wouldn’t be close to you!” Kyujong’s father chided.

“Wasn’t I brought up by a nanny too.” Kyujong muttered while Youngsaeng whacked him for being rude.

Youngsaeng then took another approach. “How would the child be able to accept that he has two fathers with no mother?”

“It’s okay. If the child is teased, we could always do something about that bully.” Kyujong’s father’s eyes twinkled. “Kyujong would be glad to do so, wouldn’t he?”

Kyujong blinked and remembered what he did to Youngsaeng’s fiancée. “That’s not the point! He’d totally walk out on us.”

“So show him you care! Come on, weekends aren’t that bad. We are already giving you two five days to do whatever you want.” Kyujong’s mother patted him. “Youngsaeng’s agreeing already, why wouldn’t you?”

Kyujong looked at Youngsaeng who used his eyes to prove his innocence. “No he isn’t! Anyway, you are NOT giving us five days to do whatever we want. We are burdened by our work, YOUR company for the five days and now we have to go out with a kid?! We’re totally losing couple time!”

“It’s yours too, Kyujong. Now don’t be so whiny. A child or work on all seven days?” Kyujong’s father frowned. He needed to show who was in charge and he always wished for a grandson after all.

“DADDY! YOU’RE SO UNFAIR!” Kyujong stood akimbo while Youngsaeng quietly sighed. He knew the results already.

“Yeah? Sue me. Lets see what the judge will do.” Kyujong’s father chuckled at the childish actions of his son.

“ARGH!” Kyujong then stomped out, with Youngsaeng bowing his apologies for him for not saying a proper goodbye.

After the couple left, Kyujong’s mother could only chuckle. “Youngsaeng’s a good kid, isn’t he?”

“Mm. But we’ll have to do something about our troublesome son.”

And so, the couple was forcefully brought to the orphanage.

They then asked the person-in-charge for the most obedient and most quiet boy. The person-in-charge brought them to a boy who was away from the games section of the orphanage. He looked so adorable the couple were confused why he didn’t have any friends. They then queried the person-in-charge if he had some disease or something.

She laughed it off. “No. He just has a tendency to be more quiet, but he does love to draw, and that’s probably why the children are always leaving him alone.”

The couple gave each other weird looks. Youngsaeng spoke up. “Could I see a few of his drawings?”

“Sure.” The woman nodded. “Kyuhyun, could you show these two Hyungs your drawings?”

The boy looked up with a blank face, but he nodded and trotted off. He came back quickly with a stack of drawings, and looking at the stack, the couple already thought he was a special child.

The couple silently examined the drawings while the woman went to take care of the other children. They looked at each other and smiled.

This child, was what they need.

This child, whose drawings were all bigger than humans.

This child, who drew a scene with autumn trees and autumn leaves falling, as if he was an artist who drew for 20 years and counting. The strokes, the colour, and the big picture itself, were all so breath-taking. The drawing was also in a real life size that if it was pasted on a wall, you’d think it was autumn already.

This child, who drew a scene with two men kissing, and these two men were without doubt, men. Although their faces were blurred, probably by the spilling of water, the body and the hair definitely was one of males, and the pink part was definitely a blob instead of being separated. It was as if he already knew the presence of homosexuality in the universe. There were people with disapproving, disgusted looks, and people who looked away in horror, and the child seemed to knew it all too clearly, too well.

There was so many more, but the last one left the greatest impression, the scariest impression.

Kyujong widened his eyes. Youngsaeng let out a gasp.

In the picture, Kyuhyun, the little boy was in it. There were two men, one on his left and one on his right. Two couples were behind this trio, and it was like a family picture. The two men looked strikingly similar to Kyujong and Youngsaeng. The two couples behind looked exactly like their parents. There was also a building in the background.

The company Kyuhyun was going to take over.
