Chapter 10 Kevin groaned as the two came at the same time, Kibum in him and him on both their bodies. Kibum smiled, kissing Kevin when the younger sighed suddenly.
“Hm?” Kibum asked while pulling out of the younger man, once more looking at the mess and pausing for a moment to decide his next action.
“Headquarters called earlier to tell me to get back for some meeting.” Kevin bit his lower lip, looking apologetically at the older man. “Won’t be staying with you tonight.”
Was that a hint of regret? Kibum was satisfied with this much.
“That’s fine, go wash up.” Kibum nodded, standing up with Kevin. “I’ll walk you back.”
“It’s okay, you don’t-”
“Let me.” Kibum cut in with a smile, then leading the younger man into the bathroom.
Despite them sharing a shower, Kibum earnestly cleaned up both their bodies without any sudden urge to hold Kevin or anything sexual. Kevin pouted slightly at this, reminding himself to be serious. As much as he was popular, he better not make all the other prostitutes wait for him alone. They all knew how important sleep was, with an unfixed schedule every single day. Also, he already wasn’t very friendly to them in the sense that he didn’t like socialising. They probably wouldn’t like waiting for someone they don’t know well.
Kevin then quickly soaped his body, reminding himself to take a second bath when he reaches his true room. He didn’t really like the sticky feeling on him. Kibum briefly cleaned himself too, the same idea forming in his head.
The two then cleaned themselves with separate towels, wearing their clothes and then finally looking at each other once more. Kibum reached for Kevin’s hand and grabbed his things, paying the younger man in the meanwhile. Kevin just took the hotel room card out of its holder while keeping the money in his pocket.
After checking out, they strolled back to the brothel not too far away, Kevin not daring to hurry the other man’s pace. Kibum had been nice enough to offer to walk him back, even though it wasn’t really necessary, the intention was good. They enjoyed the night breeze silently, Kibum joyfully humming to some tune even.
“Police.” A police officer came up to the two of them without them realising, surprising Kevin especially. “Please present your identity cards.”
“Oh? Why the sudden check?” Kibum asked, reaching for his wallet while eyeing Kevin’s reaction at the corner of his eyes. He looked rather fidgety, though bringing out his own card. As the receptionist at the brothel had said, he was really local. It was also rather surprising to Kibum that Kevin actually brought his identity card around though he never really felt it despite feeling every part of Kevin before. Maybe it was to deal with such confrontations.
“This is a district full of illegal immigrants…participating in offering sexual services. We need to check for them.” The police grunted, not as tight-lipped as the previous policemen Kibum had talked to. He took both their identity cards and matched them to their faces, apparently not noticing what Kibum had seen - Kevin’s hand slightly trembled. “What are you both doing here, anyway?”
“Just taking a walk. Is it illegal?” Kibum cut in, deciding Kevin wasn’t in the right state of mind to lie properly. If one was observant, they could see that Kevin was hiding half on himself behind Kibum as if for protection.
“No.” The police officer nodded, bowing slightly while returning their identity cards to them, not suspecting Kevin’s behaviour. “Have a nice day ahead.”
Kevin quickly stuffed his identity card back into his back pocket, not realising that his identity card had dropped out in the haste. Walking quickly away without a thought for the Kibum, the older man could only look down at the identity card that had fell beside his shoe. Why was Kevin being so frightened? There didn’t seem to be a reason.
Picking the identity card up and flipping it over, he recognised Kevin’s face. It looked younger, but nothing much changed. The hint of maturity that could be seen on his current features made Kevin a lot more attractive, actually. The younger version seemed too raw for life experiences, too youthful.
The details at the side were also normal, and Kibum mentally noted down his birthday. Scanning through the other details, the older and left behind man frowned gently. Everything seemed normal, except that the name wasn’t Kevin, but Woo Sunghyun.
“Sunghyun.” Kibum tested the name and decided it was a pretty cute name. Though he whispered it to himself, Kevin paused in his tracks and turned around, eyes fearful of the name.
“What?” Kevin mumbled, swiftly walking back towards Kibum and then recognising the card in the other’s hand. Snatching it away almost hostilely, Kevin quickly kept the identity card once more and looked hesitantly back at Kibum.
“Something wrong?” Kibum twitched, instincts noting down Kevin’s behaviour. Was this a key to the Kevin he didn’t know?
“No, no. Just call me Kevin. It’s a nicer name.” Kevin smiled nervously, turning away and initiating to hold Kibum’s hand although there wasn’t a real need to. Kibum didn’t probe further, but he knew it in his heart that Kevin was hiding something, and Kevin didn’t want him to know it.
Fishy, way too fishy.
-
After leaving Kevin at the brothel, the younger even giving him a quick peck seemingly out of nowhere, Kibum then took his time to walk back home. As he slipped his hands into the pockets of his pants, whistling as if casually, no one could tell that Kibum was thinking way too deeply for his calm demeanor. Kibum kept thinking of Kevin’s real name, Woo Sunghyun.
How did it sound so familiar?
Even as he changed into more comfortable clothes and laid on his comfortable bed, the one that had been with him for nineteen years, he couldn’t sleep. Even after the sex that usually left him worn out, sleep wasn’t coming to get him.
Woo Sunghyun, where did he hear this name before?
-
Kibum had begged his parents to let him take a walk on the streets, even if he was only seven. They told him how dangerous it would be, but Kibum had read it up online that a stroll was good for clearing thoughts and evoking other meaningful ones. He was set on the idea, and wasn’t going to let safety waver his decision. Besides, how dangerous could it get?
He had reached a random block down the streets, noticing a kid running his way, then falling to the floor about nine metres away from him. The little boy seemed to be around his age, rather thin, and the main point was the he was In tears.
“Help!” The little boy cried, trying to get up to no avail. His knees looked like they had been scraped badly, blood trickling down from the wound. “Help!”
“Woo Sunghyun, you can’t run away.” A snicker, as the man seemingly in his mid-thirties easily caught up with those small steps. The man then carried his frail form up, not minding the violent struggles and the endless screams for help. “Give it up, no one hears you.”
Kibum then stood there, blinking. He was rather confused, what was this? When the information sunk into his brain, he quickly gave chase into the alley, afraid that he lost the two people. The little kid seemed to be in trouble!
“Put him down!” Kibum yelled, panting as he caught up with the two. The little boy named Sunghyun was screaming hysterically, seemingly touched all over. Kibum scrunched up his face in disgust at the scene, glaring at the adult when he was pushed to the floor. He wasn’t prepared for the sudden attack, then suffering from a twisted ankle.
Kibum bit on his lower lip to force himself not to cry out in pain. He wasn’t a cry-baby. Instead, he was going to stand up and drag the little boy away with him. Pressing against the floor, he winced, realising his ankle was twisted quite badly that it turned swollen almost instantly.
He couldn’t help, and he couldn’t walk away to call for help either.
The man then paid him no mind, more interested in the Sunghyun boy. Kibum flinched when the boy started crying, flailing his arms and trying to push those big hands away from his body. To no avail, of course, for the man was stronger and bigger, easily stripping the boy to his barest form.
Sunghyun screamed, biting the fingers that tried to cup his face. The man didn’t even feel a thing, Sunghyun’s teeth not strong enough to really make an impact. With bone-crushing force, the adult kissed Sunghyun roughly, then grabbing the small length of the boy’s and giving it a squeeze. Kibum growled, understanding how much it hurt from his own experience and from Sunghyun’s heart-breaking scream.
Kibum tried screaming at the man too, but he probably couldn’t even win Sunghyun’s yells, how could he even be heard? Then he tried to crawl, despite the pain, but he didn’t get very far when the man noticed and kicked him. Kibum winced once more, checking his scraped elbow and deciding his body didn’t matter.
From what he understood, Sunghyun was being raped. Nothing else mattered, and Kibum had to save this poor boy.
The man quickly unbuttoned his pants and brought out his erection, aroused by Sunghyun’s screams. He smirked, sliding his hand down Sunghyun’s pale, smooth skin, admiring while licking his lips. Kibum widened his eyes. As logic told him, the scene that was going to happen wouldn’t be easy on the eyes.
And it wasn’t, neither was it easy on the ears. The sudden intrusion of the stiff, big and long erection tore little Sunghyun apart, if the sudden stop in screams weren’t enough indication. Sunghyun’s eyes were widened from what Kibum could see, and he didn’t seem to be breathing. When the moment passed, the adult leaning forward to check if Sunghyun was still alive, the little boy screamed, choking on his cries.
Satisfied with the response, the man then thrust fully into Sunghyun, grabbing his small arms to stop him from flailing them about. It didn’t matter that the six-year-old’s body was too small for his size, because the tightness and friction was out of the world. Kibum joined in the yelling, shouting for the man to stop. This scene was unbearable, how could the man continue? How could anyone not hear their painful screams?
The blood trickling out of Sunghyun’s abused entrance showed Kibum how rough the man was, and instead of slowing down, the man was actually gaining speed. Sunghyun screamed while he still could, unable to fight the grip on his arms nor the entrance from behind. Hot tears rolled down his cheeks and fully wetting his face, as they dripped pathetically down his chin, forming a puddle.
But who could save him from the damage that was already done?
Kibum continued screaming while crawling, a lot closer than before but still quite far. He couldn’t stop the man, he couldn’t. Kibum cursed himself for being small and useless, for losing to a twisted ankle and letting this small little boy endure the pain he needn’t.
A contented sigh, and that was the last of Sunghyun’s scream. The man pulled out and wore his pants once more, rolling his eyes as he passed Kibum, leaving without a thought of the little boy he had left behind.
Kibum’s breath got caught in his throat, as he turned his head to the little boy’s figure. He hastened his crawls, as if the little boy’s life depended on it, clenching his jaw and trying to ignore the pain on his own body. Sunghyun must be going through a pain ten times worse, he reminded himself.
The boy looked so torn, Kibum sighed, carefully deciding to wear Sunghyun’s clothes back onto him first. He didn’t actually know what he should do, because no TV dramas said of what to do after the rape happens. It was rather easy, sadly, because Sunghyun was so light and so limp that he was like a doll. When he was done, Kibum then wiped the tear-stained face with his own shirt while letting him lay somewhat comfortable in his small arms, noticing how beautiful the lifeless expression was.
A part of him was still unable to believe the brutality of men. How could anyone treat such a beautiful boy this way?
“Don’t…” Sunghyun whispered, rolling a bit in Kibum’s embrace. “Don’t…”
Kibum bit his lip and sighed, knowing the boy was probably still stuck in the life changing moment. Pressing a soft kiss on Sunghyun’s forehead, Kibum mimicked his mother and hoped that they would have the same soothing effect on Sunghyun as it had on him every night. Please get better, Kibum prayed. Looking up at the sky, Kibum realised it was too late. He knew he had to get home, even if he couldn’t bear to leave Sunghyun alone. “Stay safe. I have to go home before my parents worry. I hope your parents will find you and take care of you well.”
They should, right? Whatever the reason that they let him wander out this way, they should get worried and find him right? Kibum then decided to drag both of them out of the alley so passer-bys could see Sunghyun easily and help him.
Sunghyun looked at him without any emotions on his face, not saying a word while watching Kibum crawled his way home.
When Kibum finally made it home, his parents freaked out at his state. They disinfected his wounds and quickly applied ointment to his ankle, mentally promising themselves not to let Kibum out again. But they better not tell him, because Kibum never liked to be restricted.
Kibum frowned at his parents’ frantic actions, wanting to tell them of poor Sunghyun. They quickly pushed him to bed after tending to his injuries though, cooing for him to go to bed.
As they switched off the lights and left Kibum’s room, the boy sighed, mind wandering to Sunghyun. He looked at his bandaged wounds and remembered the kiss his mother left on his forehead a while ago once more.
“Will Sunghyun be treated this way at home too?”
-
Kibum jerked. The boy that was raped before his eyes, that lifeless expression and-
And those eyes.
Woo Sunghyun.
Kevin.
-
Kibum couldn’t stop himself, his need to know more about this issue. Meeting Kevin the next day, he noticed the boy was a lot brighter than the night before. He wanted to know, if the boy he couldn’t save was healed that night. Or maybe, maybe that was the start of his career that shaped him this way.
Kevin wrapped his arms around Kibum’s body and smiled at the man he was in such proximity with.
“How are your parents?” Kibum spoke before Kevin could say anything about his expressionless face, eyes intensely looking for any sort of subtle change in Kevin’s features.
“They…died.” Kevin loosened his arms, sighing as he looked down at the space between them. “They died when I was six…”
And Woo Sunghyun died with them.
Kevin chuckled humourlessly, and this sight scared Kibum. The younger boy had this bitterness in that laugh, and it was…hateful. Kevin remembered his distant uncle who came over to say he was going to take care of Kevin on behalf of his dead parents. They had died in a car accident of a hit-and-run, but Kevin obviously didn’t understand that at his age. He only knew they were dead. Then before he could cry at his loss of parents, that uncle grabbed his face and had this scary smile.
And there were hands touching him all over, then moving to unbutton his shirt, so he ran as far as his little legs could take him. Uncle or not, this man was dangerous, and that was all his instincts told him.
He could vaguely remember a little boy around his age seeing it all, screaming with him. To know that there was someone understanding his pain, Kevin was thankful even if only a small part of his heart could do that.
But then, that night, Woo Sunghyun died with his parents. In his stead, Kevin was born.
That heartless man sold him to the nearest brothel for money the next day, going back to the alley early in the morning but finding Sunghyun sleeping at the junction. He smirked, and this was what he wanted, to escape without any legal issues because he had already planned it all. Selling Kevin to the brothel means he is somewhat legally engaged in sexual activities with the little boy. And no one could date back to when he raped Kevin, because the period is too close.
He had taken Sunghyun’s first that was priceless, and yes, he didn’t pay.
He had taken, also, everything Sunghyun had. His innocence, his body, his life.
Since that night, Kevin grew accustomed to the many men entering him, learning to not cry anymore, that this was his fate. At least, at least Woo Sunghyun died with his parents on the same night.
Six, and Kibum tried to draw the link. He had gone for his classmate’s seventh birthday two days before that event. He was seven, and he was one year older than Kevin now.
Kevin’s parents were dead that night that he was raped, or before that. Definitely, definitely, they wouldn’t have let him go out alone knowing he was such a precious treasure, such a gorgeous child. Why didn’t he think of such a possibility when he was seven? He was such an idiot.
Kibum’s face suddenly scrunched up in an unseen pain. His heart was hurting, the images that surged back to his head was hurting. He hugged Kevin tightly, almost suffocating the younger boy, apologetic for that night.
“I-Is there something wrong?” Kevin blinked at the sudden surge of emotions he could feel the older man go through.
Kibum only quietly shook his head.
This man’s future, Kibum wanted to protect it.
