Is it possible to display the userpics for the comments people make on my entries, while still having the "customized comment pages" enabled?

Yes, if you select the option which displays userpics on your own journal.

Is there a way to hide the icons in the journal page but appear on comments & day entries? Mine doesn't seem to be able to do that. Do I have to put in any codes?

I think you have to show all of them, or none of them. But mart might know of a way to adjust that, but afaik, you can't pick and choose.
