IE7 and IE6 Issues - removed layout.

Jun 25, 2009 21:26

I would just like to say that this community needs more moderation. This is the second time I've posted in it in a few months and received no response, not even pointing and laughing to at least tell me someone is out there reading what I wrote. I really wanted to go with the layout I was asking questions about but I can't if no one will help me. ( Read more... )

Yeah, it looks like the sole maintainer has abandoned the community (her profile indicates she's still posting, though). Except for everything_lj, s2expressive, and s2flexisquares, all of the old layout help comms have pretty much dried up. Nothing much that can be done about it, really.

I really don't see why, when a maintainer knows he or she is ready to stop seriously maintaining a community (due to lack of time, interest, etc.) that he or she doesn't post looking for new maintainers (or at least warn the rest of us that there won't be much of a maintainer presence from a certain point in time on in). You can't tell me out of LJ's vast amount of users no one has the time and/or knowledge and/or interest to run one of these communities. I tried to keep s2_bloggish going for a while by answering most of the questions but time got away from me...luckily other people still jump in when I can't. The only reason I can't maintain a community like any of the layout help communities myself is my lack of knowledge about IE...which was the reason for the questions I posted here. I'm glad you keep s2_expressive going - since I use Mixit on my personal blog. And if not for babyelefant I don't think everything_lj would be all too active. She's been helping out a lot here, too.

I don't know, Marah, but it's the same story whether the community is for layout help, anorexia or Supernatural slashfic. If the maintainer isn't interested enough to keep maintaining the community, they might not even care enough to transfer "ownership". I'd PM the maintainer to find out, but the last thing I need is to run another layout help comm.

Hypothetically, if you decided after a while to end your campaign against AOL, would you go to the trouble of finding a new owner for the journal or just let it go?

I thought that over a few months ago, since it is getting near that time for me...but no, I will not be transferring ownership. I still want complete control over the content, the look of the blog, and how comments are dealt with. If anything on it changes, or if it one day disappears for good, that will be my decision alone. Besides that, I'm not sure if I could find anyone else who would care about it as much as I do...and if I did, it would come back to not wanting to feel a lack of control over it...it gives me the willies to imagine letting go of the reigns for even a heartbeat.
