Facebook and LJ

Gotta admit I am getting drawn to the idea that Facebook is sucking too much time and energy with frivolity these days.
Time to get back to what's real.  Small steps, but...
A friend of mine is obsessing over saving the world and fixing its problems to the point where he can't sleep....That's how the world is changed...small steps.  One person.... ( Read more... )

Saving the world with radiation poisoning? *grins* I get the concept, though. One person can affect everyone around her, who in turn affect everyone around them, and so the effects spread exponentially.

I agree with you on Facebook. I don't think Livejournal is any more or less real as an object-- it's still just a web site-- but I do think it's more conducive to sharing deeper thoughts and actually thinking things through in writing, rather than microblogging and sharing memes and links-- though there's nothing wrong with that either. Just needs to be balanced by something more in-depth, especially when much of your contact with closest friends is limited to online realms for the most part.
