All those years we danced around our perfect friendship, talked about partners and laughed at their follies and our unnerving bursts of domesticity. All those times we cried and laughed and ranted and dragged the other to the doctor amid their exclamations of 'I'm fine!' despite a raging fever. I don't know how long I've been on your LJ list, or if you actually read my page. I just saw your name today and was like, wow, I should check that out 'cause it could be a hot chick three doors down with a flaming geek fetish. Well okay, that wasn't the first thing that crossed my mind, but it figured in there somewhere.

And then your words ran through me, and I had one of my rotten thoughts-- how can the world be so mixed and messed up, with such amazing people out there? It sure depresses me; yeah, thanks. But you're an amazing writer, and surely an amazing person, and I'll just have to figure that all out sometime. For now, I'll just take the liberty of adding you to my friends, trying to appreciate the manifold splendor of crazy freaking creation. I'll get by.

Diverged, I live in a street populated with octogenarians - people who have truly earnt the right to give paranoid glances through their rose bushes. So if I do indeed live three doors down from you, I deeply apologise for nicking a flower from your front garden. I needed it to combat the spiderweb of my car's resident spider.

I don't think I can keep a straight face whilst talking about how I try not to flame geeks, so I'll just grin and press 'post'.

Oh, that really happened? I tend to assume those reports are just Alzheimer's-induced dementia. I didn't even check the garden until you mentioned it. Jesus if that's not some big spider; I hope the giant sunflower worked.

The resident spider is not so much 'big' as 'living on my side of the driver-side window'.

What can I say? Things which are closer appear larger.

In a nutshell, I like your journal and I'm adding you.

In a bigger nutshell, i will be musing on the subject of pez dispensers for the rest of the day. this post is great (and not just because of pez).

Jokes about being a little nutty aside, I checked out your journal. And with studied nonchalance I say 'I'm adding you back'.
