Hi...I'm new here. I thought about this issue for a while, and some people have suggested I might have a problem with sex addiction, and I took a couple screening tests online (they all say I have it), but I dont know for sure if I do or not. What I DO know is:
  • I need porn & masturbation at least every other day.
  • I need sex every other day.

My perspective is... if you think you might be an addict, then you probably are. I thought I was long before I spiraled out of control.

Have you looked for meetings in your area? I vote: Go to 'em!

I AM curious about going to meetings, but one fear is holding me back. I'm afraid if I go to these meetings, I'll just get turned on to all the stories and try to pick up a guy there or something...I have hardly any self control

I would say that you should go to a meeting and ask for a sponsor right away. A sponsor is a mentor, someone who's been traveling the recovery road a little longer. Talk to them and tell them what you just mentioned. I'm sure they'll help look out for you. You also might want to see if there are women's only groups. If you live in or near a large city, you might be able to find one.

    Good luck! Keep posting!

I had that fear as well. The group I went to first was all men, but they were wise enough and in recovery long enough to not send out the come get my vibe and not pick up on mine. I do sometimes find men attractive at meetings, but everyone is there for recovery. I was at a meeting when a new member asking someone for her phone number, everyone with in listening distance came to him and told him it was inappropriate and to leave. It is a safe place.

I agree look for a woman's group and get a sponsor, but go. They are so helpful, even if you are not sure. After one meeting you will know if you belong.
