I can relate to the experience of returning from vacation and having little to no interest in sex or acting out sexually. At some point or other, however, the desires and cravings returned. At least, that’s been my experience.
Perhaps the “illusion” is that while on vacation, we’re getting our emotional needs met in healthy ways and, for the time being, have no need for the addiction. Or maybe the illusion is that while we’re not preoccupied with acting out sexually, we’ve traded the addiction for preoccupation with romantic fantasies, overspending, overeating, trying to control our friends, or what-have-you. I don’t know.
Whatever your path and your personal struggles, I wish you much success and encourage you to continue sharing.
