Chapter 8: In which the pieces start to find their places…
“What is it?” Sho asked half closed eyes, when he opened the door.
“Can I come in?” Aiba asked whispering and looked at him.
Sho blinked a few times then reached out to touch softly Aiba’s face just to be sure that he really was there and it was not some cruel dream.
He cleared his throat embarrassed and dropped his hand.
“Sure… Come in…” he said finally.
There was silence for a long time after they sat down in the living room. Aiba didn’t dare to look at Sho and it was not just that the older man wear only pj pants… On the other hand, Sho really hoped the Aiba will let him explain it now but he didn’t know why Aiba came exactly so he didn’t dare to speak up too but in the end he did nevertheless…
“We’ll have a long talk, right?” Aiba just nodded. “Then I make some coffee…” he added and went to the kitchen.
Aiba listened to noises from the kitchen for a while then something came to his mind. He looked towards the kitchen but when there was no sign of Sho finishes making coffee soon, Aiba got up and sneaked into the bedroom, hoping he’ll find that picture. And it was there, laid on the pillow where Sho put two weeks ago. Aiba carefully picked it up and went back to the living room.
It still frightened him a bit but not as much as the first time he saw it. It wasn’t just that how much Sho might know about him, rather how much he didn’t remember… He caressed gently the broken glass looking at his childhood self, it was like looking at some stranger whom he doesn’t know, whom he never met…
“It really did happened, right?” he asked when Sho came back from the kitchen with two cups of coffee putting them on the small table front of the couch.
“Yeah, it did. I was fifteen, you were almost thirteen; it was the last summer we spent together. Our parents took us to Okinawa” he said and sat down next to Aiba and looked on the picture too.
“I talked to kaa-chan… Nearly a year before they adopted me, I’d had an accident. A car accident… My parents… my real parents… died there… I was in coma for almost six months. When I woke up the doctors found out I didn’t remember anything so they suggested the orphanage’s principal not to tell me about what had happened… cause this way it will be easier for me… But soon it turned out that I not just lost my memories in the accident. Something else went wrong here too…” Aiba said knocking at his forehead. “I was incredibly hard to me to take a note of something and it was even more difficult to remember then… This is why I have go the check-ups. The treatment I get helps me to remark and remember the things… or at least to remember more things…”
Sho listened to Aiba in silence. He didn’t interrupt him with questions though he wanted to ask at least a thousand things.
“When was the accident?” he asked when Aiba finished.
“I don’t know the proper date but some where in March... Eleven… no, twelve years ago” Aiba said and looked at Sho. “Why?”
“It might be when you moved…” Sho said in thoughts and picked up his mug.
“Moved?” Aiba asked and cocked his head to the side.
“Un… You and I lived at the same place; in the same street. You were three years old when your family moved in the neighborhood. We went to school together… we went everywhere together… We were friends, best friends… for a while… then… we fell for each other…” Sho said and looked in Aiba’s eyes with pink cheeks. “Then when you were thirteen one day you said your father got a new job and you’re moving. You promised me to write but I’ve never get a single letter from you. How could I? You were in coma… then… you didn’t remember anything we promised each other… That day it rained hard just like when I took you to the hospital” Sho sank deeper in the couch. “After you moved out I… became totally helpless… I was so depressed that I missed the first two entrance exams the following week. My father was furious and beat me up for it; he still didn’t forgive me for it…” Sho laughed bitterly.
“Gomen, Sho-kun…” Aiba muttered lowering his head.
“What are you apologizing for, Aiba-chan? It’s not your fault what kind of man is my father…”
“No. I’m sorry for not remembering… you… the time we spent together… that I loved you…” the younger mumbled.
“Don’t say stupid things!” Sho laughed but his laughter sounded false. “It’s not that it really matters or something… what we promised… We were just kids…” Sho said lightly but his voice chocked in the end. He didn’t want Aiba thinks he expecting anything from him just because they were in love back then. He didn’t want to force him or his love on Aiba…
“Does it really not matter? Does it really mean nothing to you what we had back then?” Aiba asked as he sees through Sho.
“Yeah…” Sho admitted but didn’t dare to look at Aiba. “It do matter… I’ve never break any promise I made to you…” he confessed.
Aiba smiled. He put his hand on Sho’s face to make his turn around and kissed him. First he just brushed his lips over Sho’s lightly then he pressed them together more forcefully.
“Arigatou… keeping your promises to me…” he whispered and smiled softly.
“Aiba-chan… you don’t have to force yourself to love me… It’s okay, if you don’t feel anything towards me now… A lot of years passed already… since then…” Sho said even though it was like stabbing his own heart. But he really didn’t want Aiba to choose him just because he’s grateful or feels it’s his duty… He wanted his love but not like this. It was more important to him that Aiba would be happy…
“I didn’t feel like forcing myself but maybe I need one more kiss to decide it!” Aiba said playfully.
“Aiba-chan!” Sho cried out blushing. “I’m trying to be serious here!” the older complained.
“So do I, Sho-chan…” Aiba said turning serious. “I love you… maybe… maybe I liked you as soon as I saw you in the park…” Aiba said blushing furiously.
Sho couldn’t resist him anymore. He held Aiba’s face in his hands to kiss him. The younger buy didn’t protest, he opened his mouth first to lick Sho’s lips in order to deepen the kiss. Sho fingers run through Aiba’s soft locks and grabbed his nape to pull him even closer. Aiba let out small whiny noises as Sho nibbled his bottom lip, sucking and biting on it lightly till it turned totally red and swollen…
When they finally broke the kiss just looked at each other blushed and panting.
“I guess… it would be better to get some sleep now… We can talk the remaining things tomorrow” Sho said smiling. “You can sleep in the bedroom; I’ll just sleep here on the couch…”
“But… we can both sleep in the bedroom… I won’t steal the blanket or kick you out…” Aiba said innocently.
“Oh, no we can’t!” Sho laughed.
“But… why?...” Aiba blinked confused.
“Cause if we’ll sleep in the same bad I sure won’t be able to take my hands off of you…” Sho said grinning slyly.
Aiba just blushed and said nothing to it…
A/N: it happened to be a bit shorter than the former chapters but if I wouldn't cut it, it would be too long, so... that's why...
by the way, I wrote the Junba smut side chapter cause more people wanted to read it than who don't. To those who were against it: it didn't change anything in the story so you don't have to force yourself to read it or something. I already hinted what happened in the earlier chapter so... But the side chapter is f-locked cause as I said once, I didn't take responsibility for killing other people innocence. Feel free to add me to read it (you can also de-friend me after reading if you want) but don't you dare send your mom to me because I spoiled you!!!
