Chapter 10: In which future’s pieces take place…
A few months later…
Sho smiled contented as he walked into his office. The meeting with the customers was horribly long but it went well. And nevertheless… a few more hours and he can see Aiba! Even the thought was enough to make him smile.
Just as he entered the room his mobile what he left on the table started ringing.
“Moshi-moshi?”
“Sho-chan? It’s me… Aiba…” the younger man’s voice said in the phone, but it was uncharacteristically sad.
“Masaki? Something happened? Is something wrong?” Sho started to panic.
“No… not really… It’s just…” Aiba tried to reassure the older man but it failed badly; he sighed finally. “It’s just… can you come with me to somewhere… on the weekend?...” he asked whispered.
Sho sighed relieved. Hearing Aiba’s voice like this he was afraid that something bad happened.
“Don’t scare me like this, Aiba-chan! I though something was wrong…” Sho said and laughed. “Of course, I’ll go with you, anywhere you want me to…”
“Okay, then… that was all… I don’t bother you any longer, I’m sure you have a lot of work to do…” Aiba said. “Then… see you later…”
“Chotto matte!” Sho shouted suddenly; Aiba didn’t sound happier after he agreed to accompany him wherever he wants to go.
“Nani, Sho-chan?” Aiba asked and this time there was some traces of curiosity in his voice.
“Ehm…” Sho hesitated; he didn’t want to ask what’s wrong cause he had a feeling that Aiba won’t answer him, but on the other hand, he had no idea what else to say.
“Nai, Sho-chan? You’re acting weird…” Aiba said.
“Ehm… Can you come over tonight?... I want to show you something…” he said finally when he recalled what could cheer Aiba up.
“Sure, but… I thought we’re going to dinner tonight…” the younger guy said uncertain.
“Of course we go! I just want to show you something before that… So?” Sho asked.
“Okay, then we’ll meet at your place…” Aiba said and there was a smile in his voice.
Sho looked at the papers in his hands thoughtfully.
He never thought that he ever will show them to Aiba. When he made them, he thought he already lost Aiba for ever. After they met again, he didn’t want to bond Aiba to a past he couldn’t remember with a promise the might mean nothing now…
He snapped out his thoughts when he heard the key turning in the front door’s lock.
“Tadaima!” Aiba called as he kicked of his shoes and wearing his slippers he came to the living room.
“Okaeri, Aiba-chan!” Sho smiled at him but his smile soon disappeared when he saw Aiba.
The younger man looked as he didn’t sleep a second in the past days and it might have been true. Cause they didn’t met since last week because they were busy with their respective jobs.
“What’s wrong, Aiba-chan?” Sho asked worried.
Aiba just shook his head then encircled Sho’s waist with his arms and buried his face in his chest. Sho stood there dumbfounded. It wasn’t the hug what shocked him but Aiba’s whole attitude; it wasn’t normal him acting like this.
“Masaki… nanka atta? Tell me, it’s scare me if you’re like this!” Sho said concerned as he hugged the younger back and caressed his hair softly.
“It’s nothing… no… it’s actually too much…” Aiba mumbled. “Shimura-san has to close the shop… A few more months then everything will be gone… I’m afraid that we won’t be able to find a new home to everyone… What will happen to them then, Sho-chan?” Aiba asked and looked up with teary eyes. It was typically Aiba, worrying about this instead of that a few months later he won’t have a job.
“Jaa… then we’ll take them in…” the older said smiling.
“We?... Here?...” Aiba asked confused and looked around in the living room.
“No, not here…” Sho shook his head.
He let go Aiba and dropped the papers on the couch opening his laptop.
“We’ll take them in here” he said triumphantly and pointed at the screen.
It was the same building’s picture Aiba saw on their first date on the computer. Now he leant closer curious to know what was it?
“Here? But what is this place, Sho-chan?” Aiba asked a few minutes later.
“Do you want to know why I became an architect?” Sho asked instead of answering.
Aiba nodded.
“When we were kids, one day in the park, you announced, you’ll be a veterinarian to open a shelter where you can take in all the stray animals in Tokyo. So I promised to you that I’ll become an architect to build this shelter to you…” Sho told smiling.
“And… this is it?” Aiba pointed at the screen.
Sho nodded.
“But… I don’t know for sure but… it will take years to build it and we don’t have this much time!” Aiba cried bitterly.
“Well… actually… the construction works already have started… it’s just…” Sho now blushed deeply. “…in the last month I run out of all my savings I could spend on it so… we had to stop the construction for while… Till I’ll be able to get enough money so they can continue it!” Sho tried to reassure Aiba.
“Oh…” Aiba’s eyes became teary again and Sho panicked again that he only made everything worse.
“Don’t worry, Aiba-chan! I’ll take care of it, I swear to you. I know a few people who might want to invest in it or at least lend some money so we can continue it. Everything will be alright, I promise, it will be complete in time!” Sho sputtered desperate.
Aiba just shook his head then hugged Sho.
“Arigatou, Sho-chan! You did all this for me even… you have started this before we met again, right?” the younger man asked and Sho nodded somehow guilty. “Arigatou” Aiba repeated and kissed Sho.
Sho sighed and hugged Aiba tight.
“Then can we go to eat? I’m hungry…” the older said happily.
“Hai!” Aiba agreed and laughed…
“So will you finally tell me where are we going?” Sho asked when they were already on their way.
“Funabashi…” Aiba said looking out the car window.
Sho looked at him from the corner of his eyes. Aiba was in this gloomy, depressed state again like a few days ago and no matter how many times Sho asked what’s the matter, he didn’t tell him what’s on his mind. It hurt Sho but in the end he decided to let it go. He didn’t want to start a fight because of it, whatever it was…
They spent the rest of the trip in silence.
“Turn to left here” Aiba said suddenly and Sho obeyed immediately. “We’re here…” Aiba added.
Sho parked the car and they both got out.
“Funabashi Central Cemetery?” Sho asked surprised when he saw where were they. “Aiba what is this?” he asked confused.
“I went back to the orphanage the last week… Kaa-chan and tou-chan… they said they’re here… but I didn’t dare to come here alone…” Aiba confessed and tears run down on his cheeks.
Sho quickly went to his side and pulled him in his arms.
“Why I don’t remember them, Sho-chan? I… I want to remember… what kind of people they were… how was it when we lived together…” Aiba cried into Sho’s shoulder.
“It’s okay, Masaki… Some day… some day maybe you’ll be able to remember everything…” Sho tried to comfort him. “Come on, they’re waiting for you…” he whispered into his wavy hair then took his hand…
Aiba sat on the backseat, next to him there were boxes and bags. There was raining hard outside so he could saw nothing about the scenery they swept next to. Soft music sounded from the radio.
“Masaki, honey, are you alright?” the woman on the passenger seat asked him turning back.
Aiba just wanted to answer when the car turned a few times then a loud crash and someone screamed…
Then… it was just pain…
Aiba woke up screaming…
A/N: I realized I'm just really boring writer cause I always use the same formulas in my stories LOL XD but it's not really important now...
but what is: I was thinking about finishing the series with the previous Sakuraiba smut chap, but then decided to continue it till I can hook up Jun with someone... after I was cruel enough to steal Aiba from him... so, start guessing who will be Jun's pair and how will he appear;) I know it already but I'm curious about your ideas if you have some...
