Chapter 11: In which hope glints…

Aiba woke up screaming and sat up in the bad immediately waking up Sho too.
“What’s wrong, Masaki, did something happen?” Sho asked hugging the trembling body.
Aiba tried to answer but instead of answering he burst out crying and held on Sho desperately. Sho rocked the crying figure in his arms and whispered calming words into his ear though he was scared as well. He was worried for Aiba and he didn’t know how could he help or what should he do.
Finally after long minutes Aiba’s crying subsided into sniffing and he slowly looked up to Sho.
“Did you have a bad dream?” Sho asked softly and wiped the tears from Aiba’s face.
Aiba nodded first then shook his head.
“Now is it a yes or a no, Masaki?”
“I dreamt but… I think it wasn’t a dream… The… accident…” Aiba mumbled.
Sho couldn’t say he was surprised. He really didn’t support the idea of Aiba’s private investigation in the orphanage about his parents. He knew and understood why does he want to remember so badly but he was afraid what would it cause… He would be even happy, if it would be just some nightmares…
“I’ll make you a tea to help you calm down…” Sho said in the end but when he got up Aiba grabbed his arm.
“Don’t leave me here, Sho-chan… I don’t like to be alone after it…” he whispered.
“Then you come too…” Sho said with a faint smile on his lips.
Aiba sat at the table in silence while Sho was busy preparing the tea.
“Did you dream about it before?” Sho asked as he gave the mug to Aiba.
Aiba nodded.
“It wasn’t just the accident… Sometimes… sometimes I dreamt about us too…” Aiba said smiling softly.
“Since when?” the older asked.
“Since we came back from Funabashi… Gomen, Sho-chan… I didn’t tell you it, cause you have a lot to do… Your work, the shelter… I didn’t want to bother you more…” Aiba said staring into his mug.
“Masaki… You know you have to go to the hospital today, right? Why don’t you… tell this to Yashiki sensei? He might can help to you…” Sho suggested carefully.
“NO! Yashiki sensei doesn’t need to know this. He would just say that stay at the hospital and make me go through a lot more examination… I don’t want more examination, Sho-chan! I want my memories back! - Aiba shouted and started to cry again.
Sho wanted to kick himself for his own stupidity. He just made everything worse and now Aiba was crying again, this all was his fault! He pulled the boy in his arms.
“I’m sorry, Aiba-chan! There won’t be more examination, I promise, just don’t cry…” Sho chided him till the younger’s tears stopped again.

“Ne, sensei” Sho approached the doctor when he left the room. “Ano… I guess Aiba didn’t tell you but… he started to… remember… in his dreams… He didn’t want to tell this to you cause you would make him take more examinations and he doesn’t want that but… I’m worried…” Sho said lowering his head.
“Is that so?... It’s a very good news but sadly… we have to do those examinations by all means… And we might change his current treatment too…” the doctor said. “Don’t worry, Sakurai-kun, we’ll know what’s going on with Aiba-chan… Then I go tell him that he has to stay for a while…” he said but Sho stopped him.
“Ano, sensei… if you don’t mind… I want to tell him this…” Sho said and looked somehow guilty.
“Alright, then I prepare a room for him…” Yashiki sensei said and left.
Sho took a deep breath and entered the room.
Aiba sat on his bed waiting for Sho to take him home.
“Sho-chan! Can we go already?” Aiba asked when the older entered.
“I’m sorry, Aiba, but you can’t…” Sho shook his head as he sat next to him and took his hand in his.
“I can’t? What do you mean I can’t? I got the treatment then… Oh… You told Yashiki sensei, right? After I asked you not to do it! After I told you I don’t want to take more examinations, you still told him!” Aiba was shouting in the end. He wrenched his hand from Sho and stood up. “I won’t take them, I hope you know it… And now, I go home…” he said coldly and headed for the door.
“Wait, Aiba-chan, please!” Sho jumped up and managed to grab Aiba’s arm before he reached the door. He kneeled down and hugged his waist tight. “Please, Aiba-chan, don’t do this! I’m worried for you; I’m afraid that something might happen to you and if I lose you again then I won’t be able to live on… Please… I beg you, do only this one for me! Onegai, Masaki! - Sho begged and he didn’t even noticed that tears slipped down on his face. “Onegai, Masaki, I’ll do anything you ask me to do just let them take those examinations…” Sho repeated and buried his face into Aiba’s shirt.
Aiba just stood there completely frozen. Till now he didn’t even think about how hard it could be to Sho. He was disgusted by himself in that moment, that he was selfish enough not to think about Sho’s feelings…
“Gomen, Sho-chan… I was selfish but… I don’t want to do this alone…” Aiba whispered bowing his head down and put his hand on Sho’s head gently, stroking his locks softly. “I’m… afraid, Sho-chan…” he confessed.
“Don’t be afraid, Masaki…” Sho looked up at him. “You’re not alone, I’m here with you. I’ll be next to you always… no matter what happens… Tomorrow, the next month, five or fifty years later. I’ll always be here with you cause I love you!” Sho said and stood up. “You know that?” he asked looking into his eyes and took his face in his hands.
“Un!” Aiba nodded.
“Good boy!” Sho smiled at him through his tears and kissed Aiba.
“Then… will you take me to the amusement park after I was discharged?” Aiba asked cheerily.
Sho blinked at him a few times confused then started laughing.
“Sure. Anywhere you want to go” he said and hugged the younger boy.

Aiba had to stay at the hospital for a week till they finished all the examinations that Yashiki sensei thought about. Sho tried to spent as much time with him as he could, but he could visit him only a few hours before or after work.
“Ne, Aiba-chan…” Sho started when the younger man was released from the hospital. “I thought about it a lot last week and if you want it too… then… would you mind move in with me?” Sho asked and felt his face heat up. “I mean, there is already a lot of your stuff in my apartment and you spent most of your time there so… it would change almost nothing… or would it?” Sho asked suddenly a bit hesitant and glanced at the other.
“But… if I move in with you… then Jun-pon will need a new flatmate…” Aiba mused aloud.
Hearing this Sho felt his face flushing with jealousy.
“As it would be a problem to him! We talk about Matsumoto Jun, if you’d forget it!” Sho snapped annoyed and honked at the driver before them who didn’t drive off that instant the light changed to green.
“Sho-chan… can it be… are you jealous?” Aiba asked giggling.
“Am not!” Sho said immediately which cause Aiba giggling more.
“Alright” Aiba said after he suppressed his amusement.
“What do you mean ‘alright’?” Sho asked looking at the younger confused.
“Alrught, I mean I’ll move in with you” Aiba explained and blushed a bit.
“Oh…” Sho sighed relieved and smiled.

When Aiba arrived home - their home - the first thing he noticed that Sho was speaking with someone on the phone and trying to persuade him about something. He tried to make less noise not to bother him in it. As he crossed the living room Sho waved at him then continued speaking. Aiba watched him for a while then went into the kitchen to start cooking dinner.
Not almost five minutes later Sho rushed into the kitchen hugging and kissing Aiba feverishly.
“What is this, Sho-chan, did something good happen?” Aiba asked laughing when he caught his breath.
“I just finished talking with someone who might help us with the shelter! We’ll meet him tomorrow at night to talk about the details but it’s quite sure that he’ll lend us the money to finish the construction! The whole amount! If we can persuade him, it would take only a few more months to finish your shelter!” Sho said enthusiastically.
“Hontou?” Aiba asked with wide eyes.
Sho nodded and kissed Aiba again…

A/N: okay, this chap was about Sakuraiba again, but I promise I'll bring back the other members in the next chap!
And btw, I'm pretty proud about the hospital scene between Sho and Aiba... Sho's speech really touched me (though it sounds stupid and egoistic because I was the one who wrote it, but I hope you know what I mean >.<)
