Chapter 12: In which new people just bring new problems…
“Jun-pon!” Aiba shouted when he entered the apartment.
“I’m here” the answer came from the kitchen.
“Hi!” Aiba smiled at the model when he stepped into the kitchen. “I just came to leave here the keys and take my leftover things” he said and put the keyring on the counter.
Jun glanced at keys then looked up at Aiba.
“Are you sure?... Don’t you rush this a bit? He still can be a psychopath nonetheless he’s boring looking…” Jun said putting his coffee mug into the sink.
“Oh, come on, Jun-tan! You can’t believe it!” Aiba laughed at him.
“Oh, sure, I can…” Jun murmured but Aiba couldn’t hear it cause he already headed to his old room to get his things.
“And you know what? Tonight, Sho-chan found someone who’ll help us with the shelter. We’ll meet tonight. I can’t believe it! Sho-chan is awesome!” Aiba praised his lover.
Jun said nothing at it. If there was something he was thankful for getting rid of with Aiba’s moving then this was. He was sick of always listening ‘how fantastic Sho-chan was!’
“You want me to drive you there?” he asked instead to change topic and stood at the doorway.
“You don’t need to” Aiba shook his head. “I came with Nino-chan, he’s downstairs with the car…”
“Is that so?... Then I’ll just help you with these…” Jun said and picked up two smaller boxes.
“Thank you” Aiba beamed at him.
They could take everything to the car and put them into it with only one turn.
“I hope you soon find a new flatmate” Aiba said when they finished.
“I didn’t plan on it…” Jun answered pouting.
“But why?... That apartment is too big to leave there alone!”
“At least he’ll have enough room for his clothes and accessories” Nino said mocking which earn a glare and a smack on his head from Jun. Nino pouted and climbed into the car without saying anything else.
“At least like this you always can come back if you learn that it was a bad idea to move in with Mr. Perfect…” Jun said looking at Aiba again.
Aiba just sighed at it.
“Whatever… I still think you should look for someone…” Aiba repeated with slight sadness in his tone.
“Come on, Aiba-chan! I have work today, you know!” Nino said sitting in the car.
“Hai, hai!” Aiba said and quickly got into the car. “Bye-bye Jun!” Aiba waved at him as they left…
Aiba couldn’t stay still for a second as he looked around in the luxurious restaurant. He wiped his sweaty hands in his pants unnoticed and glanced at Sho. The older man didn’t look nervous a bit, he looked totally composed and optimistic about the upcoming meeting.
“Are you sure it was a good idea, Sho-chan? I… I don’t think I can help you anything with this… I’m not good at this kind of things and will just mess up everything…” Aiba said worried.
Sho smiled at him encouraging and squeezed his hand under the table.
“Don’t worry, Masaki! Everything will be alright and yes, you must be here to meet the man who might be kind enough to lend us the money to finish the shelter…” Sho explained as he talking to a child.
Aiba nodded and opened his mouth to say something else when the waiter led two men to their table. Sho stood up immediately and gestured Aiba to follow his lead.
“Hajimemashite, I’m Sakurai Sho and he’s Aiba Masaki. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu!” Sho introduced themselves and both of them bowed.
“Hajimemashite, I’m Ikuta Soujirou” the older man said nodding then waved toward his companion: “and he’s my son…”
“I’m Ikuta Toma. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu!” the boy who might be the same age as Aiba said bowing.
Aiba calmed down a bit after they sat down after the introductions. Ikuta-san looked like a strict, serious businessman but Aiba didn’t think he would be a bad person or something. About his son… Aiba started liking him immediately though they couldn’t speak a word… It wasn’t just that they were nearly in the same age, but he seemed to be just as uncomfortable in this whole situation as Aiba.
At the beginning they talked about general stuffs then Ikuta-san started to ask about their jobs or the shelter. Aiba was lucky enough and he didn’t have to say or do anything. Sho seemed to know the answers to any question the older man could ask and what was even better that Ikuta-san seemed to be content with his answers…
“So, as I said earlier… I’m ready to lend you the money you need to finish your shelter’s constructions. And because your purposes are very noble, I want you to repay only half of the said amount. About the other half, take it as a donation if you want…” Ikuta-san started when he finished Sho’s interrogation.
“Really?” Aiba squealed cause he couldn’t listen to it in silence anymore.
Sho immediately squeezed his hand under the table, signaling him to look out what he’s doing.
The older man looked at Aiba the first time during that evening. Aiba felt he’s blushing under his stare and lowered his head with a mumbled ‘sumimasen’.
“Yes, really” the man said and turned back to Sho. “I guess, you know how generous this offer from me…”
“Yes, sir, we know and we both deeply appreciate it” Sho said politely and bowed his head.
“Great! Then in exchange for my generosity, I want you to take my son, Tome in as your partner with 30% ownership…” he added seriously.
“Eeeh?”
This caught unguarded everybody else around the table. Toma was just as shocked as Sho or Aiba; till now he wasn’t even listening to what was happening next to him. (Hell, he didn’t even understand why he was there in the first place!)
“Excuse me, but what do you mean by this?” Sho was the first one who gathered himself enough to ask the question they all thought about.
“I mean exactly what it sounds, Sakurai-kun… I only give you the money you need if you take my son in as your partner. Look at this as I buy your share… And nevertheless, think about that how much it worth to have a connection like this with the Ikuta Financial Group… If you think about it logically, you can just win with this contract…”
Sho’s eyes darkened at that second. There was nothing about this in their former consensus!... But he could keep his voice calm enough when he spoke.
“I hope you understand, Ikuta-san, if I say, we need to think about this offer…” Sho said.
“Of course, as you wish…” the man smiled smugly as he knows that Sho will agree on his conditions cause they can’t ask help from anyone else.
“Then if you excuse us… It was a pleasure to meet you Ikuta-san, Ikuta-kun…” Sho said throwing a few bills on the table then took Aiba’s hand and dragged him out.
Aiba managed to look back one more time and his eyes met Toma’s who looked at him with confusion and despair.
“Otou-sama! How could you do this to them?” he turned to his father but Aiba couldn’t hear the older man’s answer cause the restaurant’s door closed behind them…
“Sho-chan?...” Aiba asked cautiously when Sho stomped past their car without slowing down.
“What?” Sho snapped and stopped turning back to him.
“The… car…” Aiba mumbled pointing backwards and his eyes filled with tears, it was the first time ever Sho shouted at him.
Sho instantly tried to calm down himself when he saw Aiba’s shy face.
“Gomen, Aiba-chan, but… he just made me really mad!...” Sho tried to stay calm but only think about it made his blood boil with anger.
“But… why?... I mean… it’s a lot of money and if have to pay back only the half of it… why can’t we take in Ikuta-kun?... Ikuta-kun… he looks like a nice person…” Aiba said innocently.
Sho almost burst out laughing hard at Aiba’s naivety.
“Masaki, honey…” Sho took Aiba’s face in his hand and kissed his nose lovingly. “Who is that you don’t think first that would be nice or good? And even if he is… You know what will be if we would’ve said yes now? When we sign the contract there his part would be 50% or more… which would mean he decide in everything about the shelter. He can even close it down in two days if he wants it… And I don’t want… I won’t let it happen! That shelter will be yours and none other’s… Maybe it will take a bit more time but we’ll find someone else who can help us...”
Aiba nodded in silence. Sometimes he felt himself really stupid next to Sho who even could understand that man’s twisted thinking…
“Let’s go home…” Sho sighed.
“Sakurai-san! Aiba-san! Chotto matte kudasai!” someone shouted and they both looked there.
Toma stopped before them panting and tried to catch his breath before speaking.
“Ano… Hontou ni sumimasen deshita!” he said bowing. “I didn’t know what my father planning, or otherwise I would dissuade him. I don’t expect or hope you to take me, a complete stranger as your partner after tonight…” he said, his glance jumped from Sho to Aiba and back. “I’ll try to convince my father to drop this condition but if he won’t… I want to work hard to earn the position what my father tries to simply buy for me…” he said honestly.
“Wakarimashita” Sho said coldly. “Though we still have some thinking about the offer as I said earlier” Sho repeated his own words. “Masaki, get in the car, we’re leaving…” he turned to Aiba and got in the car.
Aiba quickly waved to Toma then got in the car too and Sho drove off…
