Chapter 19: In which Ikuta-san’s evil plan begins…
It was almost noon when Toma walked into his dad’s office to the older man’s annoyance.
“Which part did you not understand of ‘first thing in the morning’?” he snapped angrily when Toma entered the room.
“Sumimasen deshita…” Toma said without showing any signs of regret.
Ikuta-san had to take a deep breath before he spoke again.
“Instead of this kind of attitude you should tell me what you achieved with Sakurai-kun” the man said changing the topic.
“Muri” Toma said without thinking.
“What do you mean it’s impossible? There’s no impossible you just too miserable to be able to do anything!” Ikuta-san jumped from behind his desk and shouted with his son like that.
Toma just shrugged and turned his back to his father. He heard so much times that he’s miserable, useless and just brings shame to the Ikuta name that he wasn’t even surprised let alone hurt by it.
There was ilence in the office for a long time in the office.
The older man sit back in his chair and started to think about what should be the best opening step in this case…
Toma didn’t leave the office yet cause he needed to know what’s on his father’s mind. Though it was impossible to him to separate Aiba and Sho, he couldn’t know what his father are capable for this time to gain Sho to his company. He was the master of blackmailing and threatening so it was enough reason to him to worry about the Sakuraiba pair.
“Alright. As I should know from the start, I have to do everything as always” Ikuta-san said finally and the satisfaction on his face showed clearly that he has a plan already.
“What are you up for?” Toma asked looking suspiciously at him.
“You don’t need to know it. Just do always as I tell you to!” he ordered him coldly.
“And how did you imagine this? It’s my life you try to trade with!” Toma shouted angrily; it wasn’t good. If he doesn’t know his father’s plan that would make it harder to him and Sho to escape it…
“I told you enough times don’t use this tone if you talk to me, Toma! And I’m your father, I can do anything I want with you…”
Toma stomped annoyed.
“Then do as you wish! Just don’t be surprised if the things won’t go as you planned!” with this Toma stormed out of the office.
Ikuta-san just watched calmly as his son shut the door closed after his left then reached for his phone and dialed.
“Tanaka! Follow my son. I want to know about his every step…”
“Will you ever answer it? Your ringtone just killing me and now I lost a life because of you!” Nino complained.
Aiba decided in the morning that he’ll spend the day with Nino since he still didn’t have a new job after Shimura-san had to close down the petshop, though the gametester wasn’t too happy about the sudden companion. Aiba’s phone rang constantly in the last minute but for some reason he didn’t pick it up.
“But… I don’t know whose number is it…” Aiba whined and stared at the unknown number on his phone’s screen.
“You’ll know if you answer it already…” Nino said mockingly while he restart his game.
Aiba stuck out his tongue at Nino but picked up his phone nevertheless.
“Moshi-moshi? Aiba desu…”
The call lasted only a few minutes which was a short record at Aiba since he could talk to hours with anybody. But this wasn’t the reason why Nino was surprised. Normally Aiba would report his phonecall to Nino as soon as he hang up or if it wasn’t anything interesting or good news, he would just continue blabbing about whatever he was talking before the call.
But this time none of these happened.
Actually, nothing happened. Aiba just hang up and stared dumbfounded at his phone after it.
Nino never thought that once he’ll be worried because Aiba is silent. (Though he rather die than admit it. Or maybe he would if they threat him to take all of his games… and Ohno…) He sighed and paused his game before turned to Aiba.
“Who was it?” he asked.
“Ikuta-san…” Aiba said and blinked but still didn’t turned his glance from the mobilephone.
“Ikuta-san… As Toma’s father Ikuta-san? The one who lent you that much money to finish the shelter?” Nino asked. “What did he want?”
“He wants to have lunch with me someday on this week…” Aiba said and now turned to Nino. “But… why?”
“How should I know that?” Nino shrugged and was ready to turn back his full attention to his precious game now that he knew that Aiba didn’t loose his ability to talk or got any other permanent injury from the call.
“Not that… Why does he want to meet me and not Sho-chan?” Aiba asked confused.
“I couldn’t know that too…” Nino said and started to get annoyed again by Aiba’s constant talking.
“But…” Aiba started and pouted.
“If you won’t shut up I swear I’ll kick you out from here!” Nino snapped and threw a videogame box at Aiba annoyed. “I have to finish this game today…” he added softer.
Aiba was quick enough to grab a pillow from the couch to dodge Nino’s attack (though he wouldn’t get any serious injury even if he couldn’t).
“Nino-chan is mean…” he mumbled and embracing the pillow to his chest he pouted silently…
Aiba walked home lowering his head.
The lunch with Ikuta-san was just as a disaster as he was afraid of it to be. His eyes filled with tears just by the thought of it. It wasn’t else just three hours long public indignity…
The first surprise was when he arriver he just got to know that some of Ikuta-san’s rich and powerful business partners are there too. They asked a lot of questions from Aiba just as Ikuta-san did when they first had a business dinner together with Sho and Toma. But opposite to Sho, Aiba wasn’t able to overawe these men with his hardly stuttered answers.
He just started to feel relieved when he finally was able to excuse himself from under the further torture. But as he headed toward the exit he heard as Ikuta-san told to one of his partners:
“I’m sorry that you couldn’t meet the other guy, Sakurai-kun. He really is a bright, clever young man… It’s a shame that his partner is a guy like him…”
Till now Aiba never thought about it but after this, he just couldn’t rid of the thought. Does he… really bring so much shame to Sho…?
“Tadaima” Toma mumbled when he arrived home and kick off his shoes before he headed to the kitchen from where he heard Jun is.
The model just finished straightening the kitchen after cooking when the younger guy collapsed onto a chair and put his head on the table.
“Ah, okaeri, Toma!” Jun said and looked at him with a little concern in his eyes. “Is something wrong? You come home late recently and always looks like a shit…” Jun said while he grabbed a plate from the cupboard.
“Just my father…” Toma muttered.
“Ah so…” Jun nodded but he didn’t really understand the meaning of this statement, though after what Aiba said (“He has enough problems with his father without your bitching…”) it can be nothing good.
There was silence for a while then Jun put the plate in front of Toma.
“What’s this?” Toma asked and cracked his eyes opened a bit looking at Jun through his lashes.
“Curry… Tabete!” Jun instructed him and put the spoon in the younger guy’s palm.
But Toma just held his hand in which Jun gave the spoon close to his chest as it would be some sleeping toy and fell asleep that instant.
“Jun… daisuki…” he mumbled in his sleep…
