Summary: When Aiba can’t stand anymore to be ordered around like a puppet on a string he has no other chance than escape…

Chapter 16: Starting anew
“Hey, aniki! Where’s Ma-chan?” Nino asked one day when he and Ohno dropped by the assembly shop to check on the soon-to-be parents.
“He’s at the beach…” Sho said as he finished repairing a fishing boat.
“Alone? You’re not worried?” Ohno asked frowning, though his eyes were fixed on the fishing boat. “What if something happens with him?”
“I’m more worried about that he’s getting depressed because you don’t let him work at the café… It’s unfair to him, you know…” Sho said slightly scolding.
“But he can’t work in his condition! The doctor said as well that he can’t overwork himself!” Nino protested and Ohno nodded approving.
“You’re right he can’t overwork himself!” Sho said. “Come on, guys! That harms more if you force him to do nothing… He still can serve coffee for a while… It’s okay, if it’s just a few days… just let him help a little… Please?”
“But what if he gets hurt?” Ohno asked still worried.
“How can he gets hurt when both of you are there to look after him? Come on, he wants to help you like he did before”
Nino and Ohno looked at each other communicating silently with their eyes then both men sighed finally.
“All right. Tell him he can come to work tomorrow…” Nino announced their final decision.
Sho grinned.
“Thanks, guys, you’re the best!” he said and hugged them.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever…” Nino grumbled for the effect. “Come on, Oh-chan, we should get back now…” Nino held his boyfriend’s hand.
Ohno waved to Sho before let the younger guy to drag him out…
Sho watched his lover who sat on the beach, hugging his knees to his chest and stared into nowhere. Sho didn’t want to admit it to Nino and Ohno but he was really worried about the boy. He was acting like this from time to time since they got back from Tokyo. The older man shook his head a bit and walked closer to Aiba.
“Ma-sa-ki!” he called him and smiled when the boy looked at him.
“Sho? Don’t you have work?” the younger boy asked confused. The older man was busy ever since this morning, that’s why Aiba decided to go to the beach not to be in Sho’s way at the shop.
“Not now. I have something more important to do… To take you on that pleasure cruise I promised to you ages ago…” he said winking at the boy and held out his hand to him.
Aiba’s eyes lit up happily and ran to Sho to take his hand.
“Hontou? Is this really okay?” he asked with sparkling eyes.
Sho couldn’t help but laugh at his childish behavior. Not he minded it. This was one of the reasons why he loved his so much. He put his free hand on Aiba’s nape and pulled him into a deep kiss.
“Of course, it’s okay” he said smiling when he broke the kiss. “My family always has top priority!”
“Your family?” Aiba asked back knotting his eyebrows.
“Yeah, my family… You and our baby is my family and you’re the most important people to me” Sho said and put a hand gently on Aiba’s tiny bulging tummy.
Aiba blushed and quickly ducked his head to hide it but Sho still caught a glimpse of his flushed cheeks. The older man chuckled softly and tightening his hold on Aiba’s hand kissed his forehead.
“Come on, let’s go, baby!” he said smiling and headed toward the port with Aiba…
Aiba bounced and ran up and down happily on the boars making Sho totally frightened that he might hurt him at this rate on the boat. So he quickly had to do something about it.
“Hey, hey, baby! Calm down, it’s dangerous to move around like that on a boat!” he reached out his hand for his lover to stop him.
Aiba stopped and turned to the older man with puppy eyes.
“Gomen, Sho…” he mumbled and sat down obediently.
Sho smiled softly at his sight. Soon they were out on the opened sea and Sho cast anchor to immobilize the boat then sat down and pulled Aiba in his lap. Putting his chin on the boy’s shoulder and wrapped his arms over Aiba’s bulging tummy.
“Now, tell me, baby, what’s wrong?” he asked softly.
Aiba quickly turned his head and looked at Sho with wide eyes.
“Why would be anything wrong? I don’t understand you, Sho…” he said innocently.
“Masaki!” Sho said on a slightly scolding tone. “You think I don’t see it? I see that you’re moody ever since we came home. So tell what’s wrong?” he asked again.
Aiba anxiously but his lower lip and stared at the sea.
“Are you really in trouble, Sho?” he asked finally after a long silence.
“Trouble? Why would I be in a trouble?” Sho laughed. “Don’t be silly, Masaki!” Sho scolded him and put a kiss into the crook of his neck.
“Don’t laugh at me, Sho!” Aiba protested pouting. “I’m serious here! I’m talking about what Matsumoto said… that you have debts…” Aiba said obviously concerned.
“Oh, that…” Sho’s silent chuckling died immediately and it wasn’t just because of the mention of Aiba’s ex-husband.
“Yeah, that…” Aiba said too then waited silently for Sho to tell something.
Sho sighed and motioned Aiba to turn to face him.
“Look, Masaki, it’s nothing you have to worry about. I…” the older man started.
“Sho! Don’t whitewash it! I’m not a child, nor stupid! You can tell me the truth. We’re in this together or not?” Aiba asked his eyes serious yet innocent in the same time. “Do you have or don’t you have debts?” he asked again.
“I have” Sho admitted cause he couldn’t bring himself to lie when Aiba was looking at him like that. Not even if he wanted to do it only to protect his lover.
“What will we do about it?” Aiba asked without hesitation.
“Masaki! I said don’t worry about it! It might harm the baby if you worry too much. I’ll handle it…” Sho started but Aiba put a finger on his lips to shut him up.
“Sho! You said I’m your family, right?” the boy asked and Sho nodded. “Then don’t shut me out even if we have problems. I never had a word or a chance to help or do anything freely while I lived with my father though we were family as well… So, please, please don’t shut me out! I…” Aiba didn’t even notice when did tears started to roll down on his face. “I want to help you…” he choked out.
Sho pulled the boy into a tight hug and caressed his hair to comfort him. Aiba hiccupped a bit and hid his face into Sho1s neck yet soon he calmed down.
“Please, Sho…” Aiba whispered barely audible. “Let me help you…”
“It’s okay, baby, we’ll think out something together” Sho said pulling Aiba’s face up to look at him. “I’m sorry, I thought I do the best thing this way cause I don’t want you to suffer or regret to come with me. Cause I need you by my side more than anything, I can’t be without you, so please, forgive me, Masaki…” Sho told to him.
Aiba put a hand on Sho’s face caressing it lightly and smiled at him.
“There’s no need to ask my forgiveness, Sho… And I’ll never regret choosing to be with you cause I love you…” he said and pressed his lips onto Sho’s.
The older man smiled inwardly and tightened his arms around his lover as he kissed back…
Weeks passed one by one and Aiba found back to his usual cheerful, bouncy self - with the occasional mood-swings of his pregnancy - still the other three men started to seriously worry that he might seriously harm himself and the baby at this rate.
Once Aiba almost fall after slipping on the oily floor of the assembly shop so Sho had to forbid him to enter there if it was not necessary and if it was he could only walk slowly not to slip again. Aiba pouted offended at this.
“That was just an accident, Sho-chan! Please, don’t expel me from here!”
Aiba tried his best kicked puppy eyes but they failed to work on Sho this time. The older man decided that it was dangerous for Aiba to wonder around the place freely so there was no way in hell he would change his mind! ‘No matter how cute and adorable you are, Masaki, it won’t work… Not this time…’ he thought though he really needed all his willpower to resist Aiba’s cuteness when the boy was looking at him like that…
That night Nino invited the couple to have dinner at their place.
“Other way you’d never had a proper meal…” he reasoned the invitation.
Aiba felt slightly offended by this statement since he was the one who cooked, they still accepted the invitation without hesitation. After all Nino was a great cook so why would they refuse?
“Hey, aniki! Did you think about the moving?” Nino asked while he and Ohno set the table.
Sho was sitting with Aiba on the couch and was busy with whispering sweet non-senses to the younger boy who giggled shyly as an answer, now he looked up to glance at Nino.
“Would you, please, stop butting in our private life? It’s not called ‘private’ for nothing…” he said to the shorter man.
Aiba looked confused at this. He glanced at Nino first then to his lover.
“What moving, Sho-chan?” he asked innocently.
“Thanks for ruining my surprise, Kazu…” Sho said pouting but Nino just grinned at him instead of apologizing.
“Nee, neee! What moving? And what surprise by the way?” Aiba insisted tugging a bit at Sho’s shirt childishly.
“The moving should be the surprise…” Sho said sighing. “My place is barely enough for the two of us, let alone if our baby was born… So I tried to find a new place to us but it’s not that easy to find an empty and been sold place here so found nothing so far…” Sho explained to Aiba. “But don’t worry! I’ll find the perfect place just in time!” he added quickly to reassure his pregnant lover.
“Is that really okay?” Aiba asked with wide eyes. “I mean, I don’t mind living there, you know…” he said with a small shrug of his shoulder. “That’s cozy and homey and as long as you’re there, I don’t mind at all wherever we’re living…” he added smiling.
“You’re so sweet, baby” Sho said and forgetting about the other couple he pulled the boy into a passionate kiss.
“Uwaa… Stop it, would you?” Nino complained mock-disgusted. “Oh-chan! Tell them to stop it!” he whined to his boyfriend.
“Why don’t you just leave them alone?” Ohno asked chuckling and kissed Nino too to shut up his whining.
“Mmmm… You think you’re really smart, right, Satoshi…?” Nino smiled when they parted. “But really, make them stop or the food will get cold…”
“Hai, hai, wakarimashita!” Ohno saluted obediently. “Guys! Nino said if you’re not at the table just right now you’ll never get anything from him to eat ever!” he said loudly.
Of course it worked. Sho and Aiba separated immediately and in no time they were sitting at the dining table…
