Chapter 3: In which Aiba gets confused… by Sho… or Nino?

“If you would’ve forgotten it, you should take me home…” Aiba said standing in the doorway obviously annoyed that his so called manager didn’t jump immediately to obey his order. Instead he kept staring at his laptop with earphones covering his ears. Aiba groaned and strolling to the older man he yanked of the earphones from his head.
“Oi, chipmunk!” he yelled straight into the startled manager’s ear.
“Aiba-san!” Sho gasped standing up and held the urge to rub his damaged ear. “Oh, you finished with the fitting on… Which outfit did you choose? Personally I liked the one with that vest and the red scarf…” Sho blabbed but when he caught Aiba’s icy glare he shut up immediately. “Just a minute and I’ll drive you home…” Sho said hurriedly.
But Aiba wasn’t paying attention to him - of course - instead stared at the manager’s laptop’s screen where one of his previous concerts was playing. He turned back to the manager with a frown on his face.
“You really are shameless, aren’t you? I can’t believe Johnny hired a stalker to be my manager… You’re disgusting!...” Aiba said staring at Sho coldly.
“Aiba-san! Would you please stop saying this kind of things? You know very well that it’s not true! I need to know about you former works to be able to work with you properly” Sho tried to keep his calm, he really tried but there’s a point where one can’t stand silently anymore the on-going bullying. And that was what Aiba was doing ever since Sho started to work as his manager: bullying. But why? Sho had no idea and doubted that Aiba would answer if he asks him.
Aiba just tsk-ed at this and headed back to the door.
“I don’t see the point in watching my old concerts’ tapes how would help us work together. I hate you and it won’t change…” the idol said on a cold tone with his back to Sho.
The manager sighed at this. He would lie if he says he was surprised by this. Yet even if Aiba hated him, that won’t stop him to do his job properly. He can’t let down Tackey-senpai!... He sighed - it kind of became his habit since he was working here - then quickly closed his laptop and put it in his bag together with his other stuff before hurried after Aiba…
Sho drove in silence while Aiba was sitting on the passenger seat staring out the window. After the first few rides they took together Aiba forbad Sho to turn on the radio when he was in the car cause the manager used to sing along with it and according to Aiba: he had the voice of a dying cat… The young idol’s ringing phone broke the heavy silence between them. He pulled out the mobile from his pocket and after glancing shortly at the caller ID he handed it to Sho.
“Answer it!” he ordered curtly without looking at the manager.
Sho took it obediently and looked at the caller ID too.
“But it’s Tsukimori-san… Isn’t she your partner in your new dorama…?” he said and wanted to hand back the still ringing phone to its owner.
“I’m well aware of it. Thanks for pointing out the obvious… Yet I don’t feel like talking to her at the moment. Therefore answer it. The ringing starts to annoy me…” Aiba said still staring out the window.
‘If it annoys you why don’t change it? It’s your own ringtone…’ Sho thought yet did as he was told.
“Moshi-moshi? Sakurai’s speaking; I’m Aiba-san’s manager… I’m terribly sorry but you can’t speak with him right now…” Sho said turning his eyes from the road for a second to glance at Aiba. “I’ll see what I can do about that. Hai, we’ll contact you soon… Shitsureishimasu…” Sho quickly ended the call - he didn’t want to risk being caught for talking on the phone during driving.
“What did she want?” Aiba asked bored grabbing his phone back from his manager’s hand.
“She wants to meet up with you, having something to discuss about the dorama. She didn’t say what that is though… She asked if it was okay for having lunch together somewhere during next week…” Sho reported.
“Great, one more needless meeting…” Aiba grumbled but that was all he commented about the thing. Neither he thanked Sho, of course…

“I need your help!”
“With what?” Nino asked back without tearing his eyes from the TV screen.
“With getting rid of him!”
“Getting rid of who?” Nino asked again monotonously.
“The chipmunk-manager!” Aiba snapped impatiently stomping over where his friend sat on the couch playing his Wii. “And would you please pay attention to me when I’m talking to you? This is serious?” he complained.
Nino finally turned his face to his friend studying him thoughtfully.
“I don’t get why you are so desperate to get rid of him. He seems to do his job just fine” he said in the end and turned back to his game.
“You don’t get it? What’s there not to get? He’s ugly, stupid, annoying and incapable to do anything right! And most of all: he should have quitted months ago like all the others did! Yet almost half a year passed and he is still here!” Aiba foamed with rage and collapsed next to Nino. “What should I do to make his quit finally?” he whined. “I was annoying, cold, bratty, I offended him more than any normal person can stand yet HE IS STILL HERE!”
Nino in the meanwhile continued his game peacefully while listened to Aiba’s ramblings.
“From where I stand it looks like pretty much that you’re attracted to him…” Nino commented eyes glues to the TV screen again.
“Don’t say disgusting things!” Aiba protested immediately but for some weird reason his cheeks heat up in blush.
Nino sighed and stopped his game to turn to his friend. This was a sure sign that he was serious this time.
“Look, Aiba-chan, I wasn’t joking. Even if you don’t want to admit you have the hots for your manager and this is why you’re so bothered with the fact that you can’t actually drag him on strings like some kind of puppet, that he even dares to talk back to you instead being all ‘Yes, Aiba-san, as you wish…’” Nino said looking into Aiba’s eyes sternly; actually he started fed up with his friend’s constant whining and complaining. So far he thought he was the brat out the two of them.
Aiba looked back at him as if he slapped him on the face. He opened his mouth to retort but he didn’t find his voice for minutes.
“Since when did you become a fucking psychologist? I don’t have hots for that chipmunk-face! If you don’t want to help me just say that!” Aiba shouted and got up from the couch angrily. “Forgive me that I thought you were my best friend…” he mumbled hurt obvious in his voice and left shutting the front door of Nino’s apartment loudly.
Nino sighed and dropped his head back at the headrest. Probably he was too harsh with Aiba this time. Love, relationships and trusting people were always sensitive topics to him and Nino completely understood why… It’s just… he lost his patience and said things without thinking. He sighed again. ‘I have to fins out something how to fix it before that baka does something extremely stupid…’ he thought.
“That’s for the whole day long Wii playing…” he murmured pouting and turned off the TV before got up to go after Aiba…

Aiba stomped through the automatic door with an annoyed expression on his face. He pushed away a few of his fellow idols who lived in the same apartment building. All the underage idols in the company lived at the same place cause this way it was easier to keep an eye on them though not too much of them tried to rebel risking their carrier as idols. It was easy to say that Aiba was the worst out of them when it came to rebelling.
Aiba shut his apartment’s door roughly murmuring something about chipmunk-faced managers and incompetent, traitorous best friends before headed to the bathroom. He needed a shower to cool down.
“How could he tell that? How could he even think about it?” he fumed as the water poured down on his head. “Me and that… that… Ah! Disgusting! Never! Not in hundred years!” he shook his head furiously splashing shampoo everywhere in the stall…
Just as he stepped out of the shower feeling a little better he heard the doorbell ringing. Frowning about whom it could be - cause he really wasn’t in the mood of visitors - he put a towel around his waist and picked up another to dry his hair he strolled to open the door.
“What is it?” he asked tearing the front door open and immediately froze into the movement.
“Aiba-san, I…” Sho started but his words struck in his throat when he noticed the idol was wearing only a towel. The water droplets sliding down his chest drew the manager’s attention and he couldn’t tear his eyes from the sight. “Anou… shooting… tomorrow…” he tried to say why he came but was too busy blushing deeply to talk properly.
What was worse that Aiba felt himself blushing too. But why? Despite his young age he had his fair share of underdressed photo shoots being published in various magazines for thousands of people drooling over it. Then why was hi feeling all shy and embarrassed suddenly? These confusing feelings made him frustrated and impatient.
“Whatever it is, I don’t care! I don’t feel like talking to you or even seeing your ugly face so just do me a favor and go to hell!” he shouted and shut the door in Sho’s face.
Aiba leant his back to the closed door and slowly slid down to the floor. ‘My heart is beating this fast because I’m angry at him… Yeah, it’s only that…!’ he repeated in his head over and over again…
