Help me beat up Kristof!

I'm finishing up the final polish of my last book before sending it out. I'm down to one small section where Kristof, the main character, has altogether too easy a time getting from the place where another character decided he was too dangerous to know and kicked him out of the car, to the house where Kristof is going to look for his friend Gabe ( Read more... )

Maybe a combination of mesmerizing lights, hunting, and sex (or at least a seduction attempt to be resisted)? Hunters sometimes illegally hunt deer by shining spotlights on them at night, usually when they are in a field near a road. The deer stand there mesmerized and are easy targets.

Maybe this happens to the hero and he gets shot. This seems like the end of the line but it turns out the hunters are deer farmers. They have shot him with a tranquilizer dart so that they can haul him back to the farm and try to make him breed with their comely does.

I like the light/hunter idea, and the deer farmer idea is very interesting indeed. It might be a little too similar to the zoo sequence, though. On the other hand, Kristof has made the news (in a bad way) as both a human and a deer; maybe there are hunters out searching for what they think is a killer deer! Hey, yeah! I think I can pull everyone's ideas together and make this into a really harrowing scene!

Thanks, everyone! Time to write!

If you really want to kick him in the pants, take away something he's built his life on. Make him start losing control over when he Changes.

That sounds like an excellent subject for one of the sequels. Actually, I've done something similar to Kristof in this book, in a limited way that's tied in with the plot.

I do like this idea, though. I have the plots roughed out for the next three sequels, and this one would fit very well with the third. I'm going to go write it down with my other sequel ideas. Thanks!
