Wool and Words

Feb 05, 2006 21:13

Yesterday was my spinning guild meeting. I didn't bring my wheel or anything because I got there late and had to leave early, but I did buy some wool! Not as much selection as I'd hoped (Barb says she'll be doing more dying this month--yeah, we've heard that before), but I did get some very nice purples. Seaslug_of_Doom, is this okay for your ( Read more... )

100,419!!!

Wow!

Ask your mom if she thinks it's as good as hers, and I'm sure the bathroom will be forgiven ;-)

Oh, Jackie, if you're there, you shouldn't be reading this... :-)

I redeemed myself a little by saying, "I remember it's 100,419 because 4-19 is your birthday." Also I bought her a heart-shaped tin of Altoids today.

I've already started rereading it, looking for minor mistakes and inconsistencies as well as places that need better transitions and so forth. Since this was my Nano book, there are big chunks of it I haven't even read since I wrote them. I hope it's as good as I remember. :)

how exciting! People told me to let mine sit a few weeks or so, but I was too excited to see if it sounded like anything. I couldn't just leave it and not know.

That's how I am--I just have to read it now. I suppose I can set it aside afterwards and then come back to it.

Thats great about your novel!!! And its super SUPER great that you're going to enter the spinningfiber thing. Yippee! I've been spinning for that too, which gives me some sort of enforced quiet time. Its a whole different thing spinning as perfectly as I can (ha!) rather than fast-and-dirty like I usually do.

I think the best part will be going to the website of all the entrys and reading about them. I could use a good spinning-related learning experience; don't have a guild to go to!

Very very exciting about your novel!! When you come do a reading in our neck of the woods, we'll be your groupies! :-)

I can't find any already-spun yarn that I like enough to enter in the contest! This weekend I'm just going to have to do a ton of spinning; they're calling for more snow so maybe I'll get snowed in. (Yeah, right.) I'm glad they moved the deadline back a week.

That's exactly what happened to me. I looked at all my previously-spun yarn and thought...eeek. Something about that list of classes where the phrase "smooth and even" is repeated over and over and OVER and OVER again is so intimidating!! I just decided to start fresh and give it my best shot and leave it at that. I can't possibly be the WORST spinner in the world, so...well...its not like I have to win, I just want the critique.

Huh. Ask me if I still feel that way AFTER the critique! :-)

They critique? Oh, gosh. Maybe I won't enter after all...I suspect I AM the worst spinner in the world. :)

Sorry for the delay but I'm behind on my LJ.

Those purples look good to me and I'm betting, when my coworker sees that shade, which is her favorite color, she'll want to buy a scarf or a hat or something, too.

I want to read your book!!! I want to read your mother's book, too, but I'll ask her over there.

I've begun spinning the purple wool up, and it's turning out to be far more attractive than I thought. The picture doesn't do the colors justice, actually; it's full of the subtle color changes that made the green scarf I made before Christmas look so fantastic. I think we have a winner here, and I'm hoping to have enough spun by Saturday that I can start knitting when I'm stuck working my shift at the craft center Sat. afternoon. I'll post a picture when I've gotten enough done for you to see how it'll look.

My book is awesome!! At least--right now I think it's awesome. This time next week I'll think it sucks. Mom won't let me read her new one because she says it's so awful. I bet it's excellent.

You should be, buddy. We're gonna kit you up in so much purple you'll look like a grape. A really well-dressed, warm grape.

It's my NaNo novel that I continued to write on after November, called Evil Outfitters Ltd. It's a fantasy and pretty funny, or at least I think so--but not funny in a stupid, hamhanded, punny way. I've been revising it this week (except Thursday--I didn't get a star on Thursday because I blew everything off and played Spider Solitaire instead).
