Hey, this internet thing is pretty nifty....

The cable installer man was supposed to come today between 1pm and 4pm. He showed up around 7:30 or so. So I was stuck in the living room being extremely bored for about eight hours all told, but it's okay because I'm online now. AND I have cable TV! I turned on the Discovery channel when the cable guy left, and there was my absolute favorite ( Read more... )

Good to *see* you, kiddo! Figured we'd hear from you when you got time and ability to write.

Are you ready to try teaching again?

I don't know, I'm thinking more about getting into publishing. I figure I can get in on the ground floor by applying for a secretarial type position, and either work my way up or decide I'd be better off doing something else.

Really, I think I'm just marking time until I get published. I know I won't be making a living off my writing anytime soon (if ever), but subconsciously I can't seem to give up the hope that I'll be one of the few who make it.

Well, you should always follow your dreams. Jeffrey Lyons, the film critic, is a grad of SU Law. He's not being a lawyer.

I have a good friend in New Brunswick. She feels the same as you do (she's in her late 40's). She's got a couple of web books out - her books are Christian Romance (no, I've never read them...)

So, yes, Follow those dreams. And maybe, my dear, if you need extra money, you could tutor students.

And maybe I could shut up...

No, no, that's good advice. There are all kinds of things I can do. My sister-in-law is convinced I'd be perfect to run a writing class for homeschooled kids this fall, which does sound like fun even though it wouldn't get me a whole lot of money.

Christian Romance, huh? Not something I'd want to read, but good luck to your friend! I've heard romance is a good genre to break into.

I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOO impressed about your writing.

Cool, your chicken coop must be a joy to behold, if it's on the official tour and everything! :) I went to the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival in May with my sister-in-law, by the way, and had a blast. I'm still working on some of the fiber I got there.

I'm glad to be back!

Wooo hOoooooOOOOO!!!! Its YOU!!! I missed you!!! And thanks for going to Whorlygig. If you want to read it but don't want to have to go there, you can get lj feed by friending whorlygig. Just remember to post comments at whorlygig, not at lj, because we don't check them at the feed.

ooo. You went to Maryland! Fun! Susan's Fiber Shop was there with my glass needles, and she sold a bunch of them. J and I have fantasies about going next year as a little romantic vacation by train or something, maybe with a stop in Northampton where we also want to go.

Wow, congratulations on your novel!! That's really SO impressive, and I can hardly wait to read it!

And hey...did you ever hear anything from the lj spinning competition folks? I haven't...I'm bummed; I'm starting to wish I had that yarn here where I could knit something with it. I'll bet you're so glad I talked you into doing it!

Oh, I wish I'd known some of your glass needles were there--not that I had a lot of money to spend, but I would have liked to look at them. I bet they were fabulous! I was stunned, though, at how crowded the festival was--just packed! It was a lot of fun, but if you do go (and you definitely should), don't count on eating there. The lines for food were insane.

I haven't heard a thing about the spinning competition. In fact, I'd forgotten all about it until now. I want my yarn back too! I wonder what happened?

Yes, my novel is very good (although I'm a bit biased). When it's published, I'll have to send comp copies to everyone on my lj list!

Oh boy, a comp copy!! Yippee! And thanks for the tip about crowds and food. Did you make any purchases?

You can see a pretty nice image at www.glass-gem.com under knitting needles. Its much better than the ratty little images I first posted when I started making them.

I imagine the organizers got overextended or something; but considering we had to include return postage $, you'd think they could pop those things in them mail un-judged. I'm trying to decide what to do...I think probably I'll try to contact The Redhead individually, but I'm not sure if she's on lj any more...and I'm not sure how to IM. Do you know?

I got some scrumptious mohair that I've already spun up--I'm not sure what I'll make out of it (there's not very much), but I love to just look at it. I also got some Jacob I'm spinning now, and an ounce of yak I haven't started yet. I think I may have to spin it on a support spindle, which I dread, but there's only an ounce of it and it's a really gorgeous chocolate brown color.

I don't know how to IM, unfortunately. I need to update my return address for my package, but I don't know how to contact The Redhead either. Hmph, not only did I send my return postage, I also donated $3 to her Paypal account to help cover expenses for ribbons and things. I just want my yarn back now.

Hurrah! You're back! I look forward to reading your stuff.

And now, since I'm back on regular income, I'll send you money for my hat and scarf which I will model despite occasional 100 degree temperatures.

I just boxed up your hat and scarf and I'll send them in the morning. It's weird, because literally just this morning I was feeling bad about charging you anything at all for them, since I took about six months to make the freaking things. Also, quite independently of that thought, I bought strapping tape because I remembered I was out.

I hope the hat fits. I tried it on and it fits me (clean hair, I promise), but my head is kind of small. Wet the hat in cool water, press the excess water out, and wear it around until it gets mostly dry (or you pass out from the heat) to block it, and it'll stretch to fit you exactly. The scarf is one size fits all, unless you are a whole lot bigger than I expect you are.

Thanks! Me too! My brother has agreed to beta read it, although he's probably already regretting it ha ha, and I think I'm going to just send it out to a publisher after that.

I'm trying to order your book off lulu, although since I can't remember my password it's going to take a few minutes for me to complete the order. But I can't wait to read it!

I'm working on trying to revise it--but now that I have everything fixed, I can't seem to make it into a 6x9 pdf document...

If you want the corrected version, you might want to wait a day or so--I found loooooots of typos and missing punctuation, a few missing words, and lots of extra commas...

I will post a notice when I get the corrections done (if I get them done--I accidentally deleted it once trying--I won't do that again!)

Too late, I already ordered! I'm sure it's fine. Oh, if you're using Cute pdf, which is what Mom and I used to get her book on lulu, we had to go in and actually make a 6x9 category in her page size (if that makes sense), since for some reason there wasn't one.

I love the title of your book, by the way!
