This is quite painful to read, but so very sexy as well. I'm so worried for Lestrade when it comes to Season 3; I can only hope that Mycroft is as gracious as he is here and that the cases are still good. Moriarty may be able to create identities for himself, but to go back through every person Sherlock has ever helped convict, and make it believable, seems to much even for him!

I love how you have written both of these characters :)

Any fic immediately post-Fall is going to be rough, no matter who the characters. I just hate knowing that Lestrade is going to suffer so much ...of course, he's not the only one, but he's got his job in jeopardy and an apparently-rocky (and possibly ex-) marriage, AND a close friend lost, too. *cuddles Lestrade*

Frankly, pulling every string he can and calling every favor he can is the least Mycroft can do to restore some of the damage he's helped Moriarty do. (I don't consider Mycroft wholly at fault, of course, just as I don't blame Sally for *her* actions, it's just... those two have a bit of fixin' to do. =/)

Thanks for reading! :)

Lestrade needs all of the cuddles, well maybe not all of them, but certainly a lot of them.

Mycroft does have a whole load of making up to do, unless there was some kind of grand scheme in place since the start of Series 2, or if this is all some kind of way of Sherlock still paying back for messing up the whole plane scheme.

I wonder if Sally and Anderson (and Dimmock etc) will be in some kind of trouble to, yes they 'informed' another superior over the level of Sherlock's consultations but only after YEARS of it happening. Dimmock actually used him for cases as well. Although, their superior must not read papers or donate to collecting funds, judging by the fact that Sherlock was attending press conferences to be honoured, right under his nose!

Yeah, I am REALLY curious to see how they resolve all of the Issues (and not just the inevitable "whups, I'm not dead" revelation) in s3... I mean, Mycroft is a convenient deux ex, but I'm just writing fanfic. The showrunners have more work to do, lol.

my god, that was perfect. i didn't think that they could work together, when i first saw the pairing, but...
i love your characterization of them (more character exploration, please?)
it's lovely, the way you dissected the aspects of lestrade's grief into these rough edges; he seems that kind of guy, and his reaction in your fic seems a perfectly appropriate response to sherlock's death.

lovely, just lovely.

aw, thank you. The gruffness did seem to suit Lestrade here, but I was still recovering from the ep when I wrote this, so some of the 'rawness' was due to me not wanting to deal with every detail directly *myself,* if that makes any sense. =/

I kind-of shipped these two after s1, but the stare Lestrade gives Molly when she takes off her coat at the Christmas party in Scandal kind of cemented it... and of course, I badly needed to write *something* after watching Fall, there were too many feelings and no place to put them but into writing.

Thank you again! I'm glad you enjoyed it! :)
