Crystalline Courage
As soon as the case was opened, Clark felt the effects. His skin tingled, and he began to see colors more brightly and with greater depth of hue, as if a whole rainbow had opened up to him. His heart began to beat faster, adrenaline pouring out into his body, sparks coursing through him. Everything suddenly felt... musical, magical, beautiful.
“Clark, no!!” came the startled voice behind him, as Bruce rushed forward to wrench the crystal from Clark's hands and toss it back into the case, shutting it away once again.
But the effect didn't fade. Clark simply stared at his friend, in awe of the changes he felt at the sight. It was as if a curtain had been drawn back, revealing Bruce for the first time, strong and dark and masculine in subtle ways Clark had never quite noticed before.
“Snap out of it!” Bruce demanded, grabbing Clark by the biceps.
Heat seemed to suddenly sear the Kryptonian where those hands gripped him, and more sparks filled some low place in his gut. So this was what it felt like....
“No,” he shook his head after a moment. “Bruce, I....” But he had no words for it. Gathering the courage that the pink kryptonite had imbued him with, he leaned forward and pressed his lips to Bruce's, kissing him hard.
It was his choice, after all. So what if he'd needed the crystal to finally face the feelings he'd denied himself for so long?
After a seeming eternity, Bruce kissed him back.
Clark's heart nearly burst with his elation.
