Bruce,

Hey! You wouldn't believe the lengths I'm going to just to get this email out to you. The last six days have been, well, I wouldn't say a nightmare, exactly, but it's been a little frustrating. Being on vacation with Lois... while it's been good spending some quality alone time with her... it's not going quite how I imagined it. She put a moratorium on computer access, patrol, work of any kind just about the moment we landed in Paris. She even took my JLA communicator! Can you believe it? I know she means well, and if I was really needed for a large-scale emergency, I could go, but it's absolutely frustrating, you know? I'm actually speed typing this in the Business Center of the hotel we're staying in while Lois is sleeping. Pathetic and deceitful, I know, but what was I supposed to do? I'm dying for contact with the outside world (aside from listening in - that's just not the same)! And you're about the only person that would understand, so here I am. :/

Anyway, aside from the lack of outside contact, it's been a strange vacation. We took a train out to tour the French countryside, stopped at a few local vineyards, did the touristy thing, ate cheese and local cuisine, went to a few museums. Nothing I haven't really done or seen before, but we got a few bottles of local vintages to bring back. Even some regional cheese that's made using maggots. Good thing I've got a strong stomach! But then things got really weird. We went to that new museum in LaCoste... The Musée de Sade. Lois's idea of a joke, I think, but... I don't know... I couldn't stop my stomach from turning at some of the images they'd recreated of De Sade's sexual tortures. People being slashed and burned, strangled. I've seen lighter stuff done by some of our worst rogues. Although, some of the more vanilla stuff was... interesting... but... I don't know. I think Lois might have been a little more fascinated by it than I was. Frighteningly so, in fact. You should have seen her eyes light up at the diorama of the Marquis branding one of his male servants. O_O I have to seriously wonder about that woman sometimes...

Though... now that I think about it, there were a few things there that reminded me of you, actually. Some of the darker stuff, pretty creative bondage and whips (don't think I don't know about your thing with Selina and that whip of hers; there's only so much a man can tune out. O_o), even some, um, interesting food play. And no, I haven't forgotten that night in the cave either, in case you're wondering. Yes, it was seven years ago, before I married Lois. I know. Still... That night had nothing on the stuff De Sade was into, but... I do remember it. All of it.

::sigh::

I know what you're thinking. Why bring that up now? Well... I don't know. Maybe I've just had too much time to think over the last few days. Maybe I've been cooped up with Lois for too long. There's only so much of her a man can take, you know? Not that I don't love her. I do. Like my life depended on it. Hell, sometimes, it does! And I'm glad we're spending time alone together; we've needed it. Time away from the insanity of the Planet, time away from the tights and all that entails. It's been... good, taking a break. But... I don't know. Something's missing. Something big. Yeah, I miss work and patrol. But that's not quite it. I... I miss you, Bruce. Miss that rhythm we get into in a fight, on patrol, what-have-you. I miss that scowl you give me when I make a joke. :p Yeah, Lois does that, too, and it's adorable, but yours... something about it just...

Dammit. This isn't coming out how I thought. I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know I haven't fallen off the face of the Earth. Not that that's not a distinct possibility, considering my relationship with gravity, but you get the idea.

Okay, I'm just gonna cut this short, to avoid any further embarrassment. I don't know what I was thinking. Anyway, I'll see you in a few days, or as soon as Lois lifts the ban on flying.

Clark
