Resistance
The second time Diggle had Ollie pressed down over the desk in his hideout, it had nothing to do with training, and everything to do with breaking through certain other barriers. Laughing breathlessly, Ollie knew that Diggle couldn’t deny any longer that there was more going on here than their partnership in the vigilante business. Not with Diggle’s hand spread over the center of Ollie’s back, holding him flat against the desk, a hot breath in his ear as Diggle whispered harshly, “This what you want? Huh?”
Ollie gasped, a shiver running down his spine as he felt strong fingers working at the buckle and zipper of his pants. “Hell yeah,” he answered. “So get with the program already.”
Behind him, Diggle practically growled, and Ollie laughed again when his pants were tugged down.
“You’re a real piece of work, Queen,” Diggle complained, but that was the last resistance he put up before shoving into Ollie in one long thrust.
His body lighting on fire, Ollie grinned and lost himself in sensation.

Actions
After the way Aya had left him in the infirmary, Razer didn’t expect to find her curled up in her chair on the bridge, her knees drawn up to her chest as she stared out at space.
“Aya?” he asked quietly, cautiously, as he approached and sat in the seat next to her.
Aya merely blinked at him, the look of hurt in her eyes cutting Razer to the core. He’d never believed that a-what he had once thought was-a machine could be capable of hurt. Now he knew better. Aya was in pain, and it was all his fault.
“I’m … sorry,” he told her. “I have been horrible to you.”
“Yes. You have,” she replied, blinking again.
Now he could hear it in her voice, and Razer drew his gaze away, scowling to himself. “I don’t know how to apologize for what I’ve done, Aya. I don’t wish to cause you any more hurt.”
“It was not you, Razer. It was Neuroxis; he was controlling your actions.”
But Razer shook his head, his regret seeming to spill out through his words all at once. “I don’t just mean that. I do apologize for what he did, but I regret the way I treated you before, that I have disregarded you. That I have … not shown interest in you. It is my own fault; I have been too concerned with controlling my rage.”
At that, Aya looked surprised, and she straightened in her seat, dropping her knees. “But Razer, your rage is a part of who you are. You control your emotions well; I do not believe that you would do anything to harm either me or our fellow Lanterns.” Reaching across the space between them, she took Razer’s hand in hers and caught his gaze. “You need not be concerned about what actions you might take, only what actions you do take.”
Now it was Razer’s turn to be surprised. He’d never thought of it that way.
“In that case,” he said, standing and tugging Aya up by the hand with him, “I intend to change my actions, starting with this.” And with his free hand, he cupped Aya’s cheek, and bent to kiss her gently, surprised at the sweet warmth of her lips, the tingling spark that met him.
From now on, he would make sure all of his actions involved giving Aya the love and respect she deserved.

Social Device
“What is that?”
At the sound of Razer’s seeming offense, Aya turned from her place on the bridge, seeking out the cause of his discomfit. “What is what, Razer?”
“This. This … plant,” he said sourly, pointing up at a bundle of twigs, leaves, and berries that had been tied with a red ribbon and hung from the archway separating the bridge from the rest of the ship.
Aya searched her memory, then rose from her seat to join Razer and explain. “According to Lantern Jordan’s Earth lore, it is called ‘mistletoe’, a plant that is traditionally hung from a ceiling or arch during the winter holidays. Its purpose is to encourage those engaging in courtship to kiss.”
Razer’s face twisted in confusion, his eyes shaded and dark. “I don’t understand.”
Aya allowed herself a small smile at his befuddlement. “Here,” she explained further, stepping close to Razer and placing her hands lightly on his chest. “It is said that if you stand beneath the mistletoe, then you must kiss.” With that, she tilted her head up and stood on her tiptoes, leaning up to kiss Razer gently on the lips, which she found surprisingly warm and responsive.
His arms slid around her waist, and he tugged her tightly to him, returning the kiss enthusiastically.
A long moment later, they withdrew, and Aya found Razer’s eyes alight with epiphany.
“Hal Jordan is a crafty creature,” he said, “but I will not complain. It is indeed an … interesting social device.”
Aya laughed softly, and laid her head down on Razer’s chest. “Indeed.”
