Following negotiations regarding the use of grass clippings as mulch around the herbs, the flatmate revealed his previously undisclosed history of compost heaps and worms. Nearly typed "composing" instead of "composting". Reminds me of the good ol' Monty Python song "The Decomposing Composers" ;)
We just put a slab in for a shed (a biiiiggg shed) out the back then had heaps of rain. Found heaps of worms you could have - they all crawled onto the slab to get out of the waterlogged soil, then seemed to split open because of too much water. Never seen that before.

Poor worms - maybe they absorb water through their skin like frogs do. We've had a lot of rain up here - it's going to be a long wet season. I haven't had to water any of my flowers down the back for nearly a week now.

How's the writing going? So far, the only thing I've managed has been these LJ entries, but at least it's a start ;)
