On Fiction

So I'd like to consider myself a writer. The one problem with this is that I haven't written anything substantial that was also nonacademic in quite a while. It's been over two years, I believe, since I attempted any sort of prolonged storytelling. It's not that I don't have anything to write about. I suggest using pen and paper. For me, the ideas and words don't flow on a computer like they do on paper. There's something about the feel of the paper and the ink that helps my creative process. Try it!

I have this problem a lot. I say the biggest issue with you is perfection, am I right? What you should do is write the FIRST, and I mean the first. The very first thing that comes to your mind. The first couple of sentences may not be up to par with what you want but, trust me, once you get started, the rest just flows.
