Sam pulled the A & P book out of his book bag. Dean had laughed when Sam said he was taking Anatomy and Physiology, said it was Sam’s geeky way of looking at naked girls.
Dad had said knowing a thing or two about blood flow was probably a worthwhile Winchester course of study.
Sam just figured it looked good on his transcript.
But now as he scanned his way through the cardiac chapter, he thought it might have a better use.
Possible signs and symptoms of Myocardial Infarction.
1. Increased demand for oxygen; example tachycardia.
Sam glanced at his father standing six inches away from his brother. He was sure he saw his neck bulging with a heart rate that had to be well over a 100 beats per minute.
2. Respiratory rate may be faster than normal.
That was definitely the case.
3. Anxiety.
Sam wasn’t sure if his father was anxious. But he looked like he was something. Could anxious and furious give the same symptom?
4. Diaphoresis.
Sam had to look that up quickly, shaggy bangs hanging low over his face. Sweating? Hell yeah. Although Sam didn’t want to get that close, he was pretty sure that was sweat on his father’s brow.
So his father was having a heart attack.
Sam closed the Anatomy and Physiology book, slipped a bookmark in the cardiology chapter for future reference.
Sam wasn’t sure who might die in this little altercation - his father from the heart attack or his brother for being dumb enough to screw the sheriff’s daughter.
