Jah, here is more.
*# is endnote. Read that.
Oh, and team TARDIS's point of view got a little onger than I thought, so you don't really learn much about the actual plot. Sorry!!
They had been rolling around on the TARDIS floor, tickling each other and giggling. Rose blew a raspberry on the side of the Doctor’s neck and he retaliated by biting her earlobe. She was just about to launch another tickle attack when they heard the door close behind Jack.
She glanced at the Doctor, who was sprawled beneath her, tan trench coat spread out over the TARDIS grate. He shrugged and they pulled each other up off the floor.
“Well, Jack always was one to head off without us.” The Doctor smiled and shrugged again. “We’d best follow him.”
Rose laughed and straightened the Doctor’s jacket. “We’d better, you mean.”
The Doctor grinned and wrapped an arm around Rose’s shoulders. “Yeah.”
Untangling herself from the Doctor’s long arm, Rose strode toward the TARDIS door and opened it slowly. She didn’t know what was waiting outside, but Jack had closed the door for a reason. It probably meant there were people outside who wouldn’t benefit from glancing into a Police Box and seeing an older man and a younger girl *1 rolling around on the floor of an impossibly large space ship. There were many such people in the universe. *2
Still, it never hurt to be cautious. *3 Rose stuck her head out of the TARDIS and glanced around. They had landed in a forest clearing. It was sunny, and light spilled into the clearing from above, filtering through green leaves on the edges. Jack wasn’t nearby or, if he was, she couldn’t see him… *4
Rose found herself screaming when she finally spotted Jack. She didn’t know what words were coming out of her mouth, but they slipped out from her lips like oil *5, breaking the stillness of the clearing. Jack lay on the grass, jacket torn to bits and blood soaking through the fabric. There was a large rip in his throat, spreading like a smile from ear to ear.
She felt the Doctor’s cool hands on her waist, gently dragging her back into the safety of the TARDIS. She was babbling, gasping like a fish. He placed a cold finger on her lips and shushed her softly. Leaning forward he brushed her hair out of the way and whispered in her ear. “It’s okay, Rose. It’s going to be okay. I want you to stay here while I deal with this. Then we can leave.”
Rose sniffed, tears finally coming to her eyes. “Promise?”
The Doctor smiled sadly, pulling her into his arms. “Promise.” *6
Removing herself from the Doctor, Rose stumbled over to the TARDIS’s bench and collapsed. “I know he can’t die, but it still freaks me out.”
The Doctor nodded, looking over his shoulder as he putting his hand on the doorframe. “Me too.”
Rose closed her eyes and took deep breaths, trying to calm herself. She repeated the Doctor’s earlier words in her head, like a mantra. “It’s okay. It’s going to be okay. It’s okay. It’s going to be okay.”
The Doctor smiled at her, even if she couldn’t see it, and stepped out into the sun. *7
*1 Seriously. She’s like, nineteen and he’s about nine hundred. Chew on that!
*2 This category includes most people.
*3 Not like they ever listen to that advice on the show.
*4 What, is she blind ?!?
*5 That would be sort of gross in real life. Vomiting oil. Yeah, this is one of those times where I’m glad metaphors are just metaphors.
*6 Promises with the Doctor rarely are kept. You’d think Rose would know that by now.
*7 FROM THE DAY WE ARRIVED ON THE PLANET, AND BLINKING STEPPED INTO THE SUN… Oh wait, no. That’s the Lion King.
