I'm for a slightly progressive tax, but to essentially be blaiming an entire tax bracket for the economic hardships brought upon by government officials (And I'm not talking about Bush, I'm talking about Ben Bernanke) and then calling it fair that they relinquish their assets?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not leaning towards either at this point. But the democratic party isn't without its breaches of constitutionality either.
Have you ever read Harrison Bergeron? It's a short story by Kurt Vonnegut. Find it, it's interesting.
I don't believe that Harrison Bergeron is about affirmative action or welfare, in fact, Vonnegut came out and said it wasn't when it was used as an example in a court case. I think what Vonnegut was criticizing was the dumbing down of society - denying valedictorians, no-score soccer leagues. In Harrison Bergeron, people who are below aren't brought up, those who are exceptional are brought down. By forcing kids through a sub-standard school system that rewards conformity you are weighing down the best and brightest.
