Irrelevant Holidays

With the coming of Valentine's Day and everyone having a shitfit with their plans, it's got me thinking. Why do we put ourselves through this year after year? Why is it that we submit ourselves to the season? It is for the sake of getting fucked? Why, I think so. Is it because of some twisted sense of duty? It probably is.

I think it is more important to remember what the REAL holiday is, somthing im supprised you didn't go into more. St. Valintines day is suposed to be about some prisoner that wrote to his lover such epic letters....why do we celebrate? mabey because such an annoying shallow man died. Thats a good enough reason for me. As for thanksgiving....plymoth rock...blahblahblah...pilgrams...blahblahblah...its not as much about being thankfull to others, as being thankfull to god. Yes, this is a poor reason to have a holiday, as those who celebrate it for its original purpose should be doing this every day, but some people are so shallow and selfabsorbed that they realy dont get it. And finaly christmass. Christmass is the celebration of the birth of christ. Noone knows why it is celebrated in winter, as noone knows when christ was born exactly. The date could be, as we have discused, to cover a pegan holiday. Or, it could be the day that St. Nicholas donated money to the poor brides (What, you mean santa had origins in a real story, why yes, ( ... )
