Reading/writing LJ is a chore, so I'm doing it less and less.  It breaks my heart that I can't really read the novelas posted by Procyon, but it literally would take me over a half hour with great eye strain.  Heck, any post is tough.  The big news has been our trans-Atlantic cruise from Lisbon, Portugal to Florida with Al, Dex, Scritch, and Kitty

Hey! ...Here's a thing that maybe could go a long way to removing the chore part and just enjoying the content part ... see if you can just "highlight" the text and have the machine dictate it to ya :>
I dunno if your browser can do it, but certainly many word processing software programs can if you cut-n-paste the text there... Best of wishes!

OMG! It worked! I knew Outlook had the "read aloud" feature, and now I know that Firefox as it too! *big bear hug* You just helped make LJ enjoyable again.

Actually, I unfortunately spoke too soon. I was actually in an Outlook wimdow and not a Firefox one when I thought iy had worked. I'm back to square one. Firefox sucks.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed your trip. Sorry to hear that your eyes are betraying you. Does enlarging the text help? How about changing the colors of the text and background for better contrast? Like bold black on yellow, maybe? I used to play with the combinations on my terminal emulator at work to make it easier to read. Say hello to Kitty for me. I miss you both.

I've got it zoomed pretty far. Then it becomes an issue of text running of the screen. The big problem is one eye can focus, but the other cannot. And the one that can focus has a dead spot. So lots of times it acts like double vision. The eye strain to focus also gets my eyes tired in no time.

Sorry to hear about your eyesight, hopefully at least you have some good books on tape or podcasts to listen to.

Been way too long since I’ve been on a cruise, really missing those relaxing days. I remember one of my last cruises that had a couple days at sea my sister and I really enjoyed the drinking package… made our own bar crawl across the ship.
