Poor baby! I'm thinking a doggie behavior eval by a trainer or something who might know more about animal psych and behavior problems might be a good idea.

It breaks my heart to think of her suffering like that! It's sad to think that she is annoying you so much when she is anxious or insecure. It's not possible she's in constant pain, is it? That's some pretty serious anxiety you described. You know, I had a weird idea of the sound of car brakes freaking her out perhaps, or anything remotely related to crashing or screeching sounds startling her. Some of that might be outside of our range of hearing and remind her of a traumatic "encounter"...

How long has it been?

Animal Psych... hun your great but maybe you need a real srink ;) I never understood people who want to take their doggs to therapy.. or puppy prozac WTF! its a damn dog it is gets too anoying they can do just what they'd do to a human... send it away to a 'hospital' or in this case a puppy pound.
yes I'm heartless

I'm just educated in CogSci...go ahead and call me weird.

I was just thinking of dog training or something. Perhaps letting the vet take a look. Maybe if more ppl cared about their pets as they do the other members of their families...But then, lots of ppl do think of their family members like that! ;)

I wasn't really thinking of a "doggie shrink" or "puppy prozac" (tho they may help here---at least the drugs!). Just having the behavior looked at. Besides, who has money like that?

Though tearing up the carpet, etc. is likely to get expensive...

Her traumatic event must have been... 4 or 5 years ago?

The dog is about 14 years old, so she's gotta die soon. Right?
;)
Seriously though, most of the time, it's not a problem...it just has been lately so I decided to post about it. I'm sure I made it sound worse than it actually is.

I say we need to make some pot brownies or pot-laced doggie biscuits...Time for a care package folks!
