Pinsk, Belarus recap. Now in Krakow, Poland

Jul 15, 2005 17:02

Yesterday we left Belarus. The six days we were there was quite an 'experience.' Everyone had gold teeth. There front teeth were gold capped. Usually they were gold capped in just a few places, but there were a hand-full of people who had an entire gleaming mouth of gold. It reminded me of DMX ( Read more... )

Sabrina, it's Momma Beard here. First, I'm glad that you and your dad are safely back in Poland. And, second, please consider that -- but for chance, good and bad -- you might have been one of those poor people in Belarus, walking in their shoes. Please don't think in a way that looks down on someone who is poor. I am greatly impressed that people who are so poor were so hospitable to you and your father. ... with love, Mom

Hey Sabrina! I hope you're having a good time! By the way, I saw a comment you left for me like a month ago about how you called and wanted to go swimming. I don't know why I'm seeing it just now. So when you get back we'll get a bunch of people to go swimming and it'll be faaab. Talk to you soon.

Hi, Sabrina! This is Paul. Your fish and frog are all doing well, as far as I can tell. They seem like happy creatures. How often am I supposed to change them? If I were to switch them out for different fish, would you notice or care? I heard you're getting a pet llama, I bet that will be a big responsibility.
I saw through your made up story about Belarus. Where are you really?
If everyone is so poor that they can't afford proper deodorants, how can they afford gold teeth? Gold teeth are expensive, so are gold fillings. Good fillings, though. Biocompatibilty, I'm told. Nick says "have fun in PO-land".

Paul, it's Momma Beard here. I've had no word from Sabrina since an email that she sent from Pinsk on Wednesday, July 13, at 2:12 pm, which would have been 8:12 pm. In that email, she reported that she had been sick during the wee hours of that day; she guessed that she was sick either from bad sausage or from bad vodka. Since they've been back in Poland, the only word from her has been what she has posted to LJ. ... Her fish are without personalities. The little frog, however, is kind of cute. Sabrina thinks it's a female; whatever it is, I kind of like it's chirping, and the frog actually seems to respond and have a personality, of sorts.

Momma Beard here: Sabrina's dad just phoned. All's well. They are in Krakow at the Hotel Europejski. It's a nice, old hotel, and Sabrina said that she likes Krakow more than Paris. Here's the hotel's web site: http://www.he.pl/ Poland is nothing like Belarus, and clearly more to Sabrina's liking. They'll be there another four or five days before leaving for Zakopane, a resort area.
