Summary: Jinki tried to avoid it at all cost, but eventually he had to face it.
A/N: Written for the 17th challenge at shawol_haven.
Jinki was walking along the street towards Minho’s house with bags of grocery. He wanted to cook dinner so that when he returned home after a long day of work he will be rewarded with delicious food. Maybe it would also help to improve on their relationship too.
He took out his phone and dialed the number he remembered at the tip of his fingers and waited patiently for his called to be picked up.
“Hello?” A manly voice was heard from the other end.
“Minho-ah, is me. I just want to call and ask if you want to have dinner together.”
“I have to work overtime today…” Jinki could not help to feel disappointed with the answer.
He tried hiding it by replying with a failed cheerful tone, “oh…is okay, there is always next time.”
A long silence was heard and Minho finally spoke up again, “sorry Jinki hyung.”
“Silly, it is not your fault that you have to work overtime. Remember to eat dinner at work alright? I better hang up now, don’t work too hard.”
“I know…bye.” And Minho hung up the phone.
Jinki let out a long sigh. In the end, he had to eat dinner alone again. Even though it was not the first time Minho had rejected his invitation, he still felt dismay. He tried to encourage himself a little by thinking that there was always the next time. They will be together again like how they used to be.
An idea came up in his mind. Perhaps he should follow his original plan of preparing dinner for him and then wait patiently for him to return home after work. It would hurt to wait for him a little longer right? A wide grin spread over his face, he was sure his efforts will be paid off. Everything will be back like how it used to be.
A loving couple, that was holding hands, was heading towards his direction. Jinki did not think much at first until he recognized one of guy was Minho. His hand was intertwined with a pretty looking blonde boy, having a smile that was lost whenever they were together.
The older boy could not react at that moment. Minho finally looked up and their eyes met. The moment seems like forever as they stood there rooted to the ground, unable to move. The blonde boy was confused at first when Minho stopped abruptly. But he understood the reason straight away as he looked at the guy that was standing few steps away from them.
Actually Jinki knew this was coming. He knew it all along. He just did not want to face the truth. All those time Minho answered phone calls somewhere far from him deliberately, always telling him that he was not free to meet up, the sudden distance feeling between them and the many times the serious talk that Jinki had evaded regarding their relationship which the younger one had requested to talk about.
Minho did thought of breaking up with Jinki, knowing their love was beyond repair already. But the older one kept avoiding the topic about their love. The brunette did not want to break up with him and is willing to do almost everything to continue on their relationship. Up till now, they were still together with just label and one sided feelings. Jinki knew it was foolish to keep someone who no longer loves you by your side.
But he still wants to be the foolish man.
Finally, Jinki decided to turn around and walk away like he had never saw them at all. It was just an illusion his crazy mind had come up with and Minho was actually still at office doing work. The couple was surprised by his reaction. They had thought about the possibility that he might flare up or even break down on the spot. To be honest, they had never expected him to walk away like nothing happen.
Perhaps he really loved Minho to the extent that he is willing to close both eyes even if he caught him red handed with another guy.
“Key, I will be back, wait for me.” He left a kiss on his forehead and chased after Jinki.
This has to end.
“Jinki hyung!” Minho called out his name and caught up with him quickly.
“Minho! You are here!” Jinki gave an awkward smile, knowing perfectly well it was the most ridiculous act he had did in his whole life.
“Jinki we need to talk…” Minho said in a serious tone.
However Jinki tried to avoid the topic, “you must be hungry right? I had already bought things to cook tonight.”
“Jinki…”
“Don’t worry I didn’t buy chicken today but I bought your favourite fish!”
“Jinki…please…listen to me…” The younger one tried again.
“You know the lady working in the shop that sells fish told me a lot about the different types of fish and…”
“JINKI HYUNG, PLEASE STOP AND LISTEN TO ME!”
The older boy finally stops. There was a short silence before Minho decided to tell him the things he wanted to some time back, “we can’t continue on anymore…”
The grocery bags dropped onto the ground with a loud thud sound. Jinki grabbed on tightly to Minho’s hands with his knees on the ground begging him. Tears were already falling down his cheeks and on to the ground. He knew he could no longer avoid breaking up with him anymore.
Everything would have to end here even if he do not want to.
“Please don’t…please Minho…I beg you…” Jinki was willing to throw away his dignity and pride just to continue holding on to him.
The reason was very simple.
Jinki loves Minho too much to let go.

I personally thinks that when it comes to love, many people have different views about it.
Well, I am sure there might be one out of many people in the world who would choose to throw away everything just to make the person they love stay.
idk, I just thought maybe Onew might fit in the role?
