“Run!” The watcher shouted at the top of his voice and people started to run for their life.
Jonghyun cursed not knowing how the cops managed to find out about the drug traffic that was going to take place during the late night. There were only a few of them who were involved in this top secret trade that could only be known among the top ranking mafia members. Someone among the few of them had tipped off the news to the police. He did not know who, but he was very sure of was that he did not betray them.
His eyes scanned through the chaotic scene, looking for Key. Dammit where they heck he went? The cops were getting nearer and he had no choice but to leave immediately. Jonghyun was lucky that he was a fairly fast runner and silence took over the loud noises of the cops.
He stopped running being confident that he would be safe for the moment. His head lean against the tree, trying to catch his breath before continuing heading back to the headquarters and report to the mafia boss about the disaster.
The moment the brunette stood up to start his journey again, a blue pendent fell out from his pocket. It was a present given by Key who was also a part of the organization too. However he was still inexperience and this was his first important exchange of goods he had participated. Jonghyun guessed his best friend was too unlucky and had to experience something like this. He then bent over to retrieve the pendent.
It was meant to be a good luck charm from what he had told the older one. And that made him began to wonder how he was. Key should have been intelligent enough to escape the very moment the watcher shouted us to run, but even though Jonghyun had that thought, he could not help but feel worried for him.
The younger one would most probably have acted upon human instincts. However he is still inexperienced at escaping from the clutches of the cops. Jonghyun cursed himself as his guilty consciences had won the battle and decided to roam around the forest to look for him before head back to the headquarters.
His footsteps were light and quiet, not wanting to gain any attention from the police. Not long later, Jonghyun started to feel a little restless not knowing where he might be and the continuous canopy of trees had worsen it as it did not help to find Key. It was blocking out the moonlight.
“Jjong…” He heard a familiar voice calling out my name and was one hundred percent sure it was Key.
Without a second thought, the older one sped off to his side as fast as his legs could carry him and covered his mouth immediately the moment he was within his reach.
“Are you crazy? Do you want the others to hear you?” Jonghyun whispered angrily into his ears pulling him back to the ground to hide behind the bushes. Although he sounded mad and a little pissed off at his action, he was really glad he was safe.
He really was.
Key was Jonghyun’s only friend in the mafia world, the only person he trusted among the rest. Maybe it was his pure image the very first day he joined us and officially a member of the group, and he trusted that first impression. The younger one understood Jonghyun well and had always there to lend a pair of listening ears to him.
Jonghyun had to admit; maybe he might be in love with him.
“We have to head back towards the headquarters, follow me,” He ordered Key and held on to his wrist tightly.
Before Jonghyun could drag Key, he resisted and pulled the shorter one back, making him fall on to the muddy soil. The brunette was about to start cursing and swearing, but the gun in his hand had stopped him from doing so. Jonghyun was dumfounded by the gun that was pointing toward his forehead, but soon he was pulled back to reality by his explanation.
“You are officially under arrest, Jonghyun,” Key announced, moving closer towards him.
Key was the betrayer and Jonghyun had believed him with all his heart.
“I knew you where you were with the help of the Pendent.” He pointed towards the floor, the pendent that had once again fell out of my pocket. It was a tracking device, not some lucky charm the older one thought it was.
His heart froze, unable to process the truth that was right in front of him. How could he betray me? A sudden rage had exploded from within and Jonghyun shot up like an arrow dashing toward Key. His mind was not thinking right and the only thing he could see was hatred.
Bang! A gun shot was heard and Jonghyun felt a sharp pain jabbed into his chest. The pain was too much to bear and he lost his balance falling back to the ground. Key had shot him. Even though Jonghyun was slowly losing his sight, he could feel that Key was afraid and guilty for shooting him. His mouth moved slightly, trying to say something that did not come out from his mouth. It was vague, but somehow Jonghyun could identify what he was trying to say. He could hear that three words that Key wanted to tell him.
I am sorry.
The darkness then engulfed him forever.
