From the moment he opened his eyes, he should’ve known that today was one of those days where things will never go right. He should’ve flipped back onto his bed, held on to his blankets and prayed to whatever gods up there to make sure nobody wakes him up until tomorrow.
Of course, as an idol, that never happens. Even better, as a professional, Hyun Seung decided to ignore that little throb on his forehead and simply went ahead with his usual morning routine. Finished with the overall bathing and brushing and stuff, he finds himself in front of the mirror, about to complete his morning rituals. His slightly tired face reflected back, and the mirror-him frowned at the rather visible eye bags. Like an expert, his hands quickly found the eyeliner, and proceeded to do a clean job of covering it up.
Soon, it was done, and his lips turned up into a smile in satisfaction. Leaning back to examine his work, he nodded to himself slightly, and turned, leaving the toilet in a better mood despite the sudden hair-rising feeling he gained as he stepped out. He ignored that too. That should’ve been a second warning, where he should’ve ran like the wind back into his bed and hid there for the rest of the day.
Instead, he went on as usual, greeting the other members, waiting for the ones still busy to finish, before they all headed out to work.
From there, things started going downhill. For some reason, someone up there’s probably having a hissy fit, and decided to torture Hyun Seung the entire day. It started off minor, where an unknown assistant accidentally spilled chilled water on him, into a major accident where he was pushed off the stage and into the wandering hands of rabid fan girls. It didn’t end pretty.
Now in an extremely bad mood, the normally shy male could be found frowning angrily in a hallway outside of their rest room. He took out a compact mirror, adjusting the view to the bandage near his left eye, “Dammit.” He cussed softly, “I love them all, but did they really have to practically dig out my eyeballs?” His hands snapped shut the mirror as a voice drifted over, “Hyun Seung?”
He turned, his heart skipping a beat as his eyes landed on Doo Joon. Without meaning to, he snapped out, “What.” The leader frowned slightly, “Look, I’m really sorry about that. I didn’t really mean to push you down. Look on the bright side; at least you don’t have a broken leg from nobody being there.” Hyun Seung sighed, his eyes softened slightly. With a bitter tone, he muttered grudgingly. “I wasn’t blaming you, leader, but I’m not in the mood to talk right now.”
Doo Joon’s frown deepened, but he didn’t continue talking. He paused, looking as if he wanted to say something, before he turned and left, “Well, hope you get better soon, brother.”
Hyun Seung stared as the leader left. For some reason, his heart ached.
It was approaching night when things decided to dump a bomb on him.
Hyun Seung, after fixing his eyeliner for the fifth time that day, was walking back towards the place they stayed together when he heard voices coming out from the door next to his. He paused, curious, as he heard Doo Joon’s voice conversing softly with Yoseob.
“So, leader, when are you ever going to admit you’re really the bottom between us two.”
“Oh shut up about that. Look, we don’t exactly have the time to discuss about this... Besides, everybody believes I make a great top.”
Hyun Seung blinked in surprise. Are they conversing about what he thinks they’re chatting about? Curiosity peaked, he continued listening.
“Well, everybody seems to think I’m bottom too... By from what I feel, I think it’s the exact opposite occurring.”
“Look, just because I let you win that one time, you’re not supposed to hang it over my head all the time! Forget it okay?”
“No way. Just. No way.”
Hyun Seung stared at the door in shock. They are talking about that. It can’t be. Yoseob and Doo Joon? Together? That’s shocking news he never knew. His legs started moving by themselves, and a growing pain made him notice something.
By the time he reached the outside of his door, the tears were already falling. ‘Ah.’ He thought, ‘I liked Doo Joon.’ His empty eyes looked down at his trembling hands, the feeling of his heart breaking apart making him let out a sob.
“Hyun Seung?” A soft voice murmured out softly in the dark. His head swerved around quickly, his eyes wide as he stared at the surprised form of Dong Woon. The taller of the duo approached him, his eyes blank as usual. He glared, “What do you want this late at night?” Dong Woon stopped in his footsteps, again surprised by the sudden burst of anger from the shorter male, “Are you okay? Are you... Crying?” His tone suggested worry, but his eyes concealed whatever emotion he felt.
Hyun Seung gritted his teeth, trying to remain civil to his brother-like friend, “Of course I’m not okay. Do I look like I’m okay?” Screw civilities, he thought, “It’s been a fucking exhausting day today. Shit happened and fucked the fans, flew out, and decided to smack me in the bloody face. I suddenly realized I liked Doo Joon after finding out he’s with Yoseob and why the hell am I telling you all these?!” Towards the end, his voice started taking up a hysterical tone.
Despite all that, Dong Woon still managed out a calm smile. He placed a hand on Hyun Seung’s shoulder comfortingly, “Hyung... I understand you had a stressful day... Mayb-“He was cut off abruptly by Hyun Seung, who had slapped his hand away angrily, “What do you mean by understand?! And that smile of yours! Why are you always smiling! It’s so irritating!”
Dong Woon stared in surprise at the slapped hand, and for a brief moment, hurt flashed across his eyes, so very clear that Hyun Seung couldn’t help but notice it immediately. His voice stilled as he stared at Dong Woon’s eyes. Dong Woon continued smiling, and at the sight of the painfully forced way he smiled, his mind snapped. His hands slammed onto the wall, cornering the taller male as he glared hard. Slowly, the other slid downwards, until it looked like Hyun Seung was looking down at him. Dong Woon stared back up, shock flitting across his eyes. For the first time, Hyun Seung felt a sudden satisfaction at the younger male’s clear eyes.
“You’re forcing yourself to smile again.” He growled out angrily, “Why are you always smiling?” Dong Woon took a deep breath, and this time, his calm smile returned, “It’s a habit I guess.” He replied calmly, and his eyes began taking up the blank look again. But the deed was already done. Hyun Seung noticed the hurt behind his eyes, and he noticed something was wrong. His anger subsided than, “You... You’re hurt.” He stated simply. The other flinched, and his hand, the hand that held his shoulder mere moments ago, shifted. Hyung Seung’s eyes immediately zoomed in and noticed the way he cradled it. He grabbed Dong Woon’s hand harshly, pulling the long sleeve up. He ignored the flinch that occurred from his action, and stared in shock at the various bruises and welts that littered his suddenly frail arm.
Hyun Seung looked back up at Dong Woon, whose face was turned away, “What is this?” He asked, “What happened?” Dong Woon sighed, and then turned back, his face still looking down, but the calm smile was back again, “That time... When you fell... I went down to get you back. The fans’ grips were surprisingly harder than I thought, that’s all.” Hyun Seung’s stare continued, his shock growing with every word, “W-what?”
Dong Woon sighed, and proceeded to repeat, “I said-“Again he was interrupted by Hyun Seung, “I know what you said! But... Why did you come down to get me?” This time, the younger male’s face flushed up in pink, and Hyun Seung could practically feel his heart jumping up into his throat, “I-I... I was worried, you know...” He muttered, “The fans... They can be scary sometimes.” Both shuddered silently, reminded of certain crazier, much more rabid fans that had their iron grips on KiKwang once.
There was a brief, awkward silence, as the duo quieted down, both unsure of what to say next. It was Hyun Seung who broke the silence “Thanks...” He murmured, and Dong Woon looked up in surprise, “E-eh? Oh... Uh, you’re welcome.” He smiled cheerfully back, appearing to be unaffected by his wounds. Hyun Seung stared, his mind reeling, as he suddenly noticed, ‘How... Cute.’ With the slowly fading blush on Dong Woon’s cheeks and the soft smile that settled naturally on him, Hyun Seung began to take note of the tiny things he would normally dismiss.
Their current positions, for example. With a sudden urge, Hyun Seung leaned down and captured Dong Woon in a kiss. The kiss was short, brief, but made Hyun Seung notice other things. His heart had already left Doo Joon. In fact, he had already forgotten about the wonders of puppy love on his leader, and plunged straight into another, much more amusing game.
Leaning back, he smirked in satisfaction of his work, his mood taking a much better turn than when it first started with, and he stood up, walking off with a short, “Good night.” He turned back slightly to glance at the stuttering, blushing Dong Woon he left, and he let out a soft chuckle as he entered his room. Already he could feel his luck changing.
‘Making Dong Woon blush is so amusing it’s going to make me addicted.’ He thought, as he closed the door with a smile.
There was a brief pause, ‘Oh wait. I’m already addicted.’
Omake 1:
“Dammit, Yoseob! Stop trying to make yourself believe that just because I let you win ONCE with my character, that makes you the higher ranking between us two!”
“Tch! You didn’t let me win! I won it through strength and skill!”
A voice that had remained silent till then, appeared to have gotten sick of their argument, as Jun Hyung spoke up from his book, irritation clear in his eyes, “Guys, if you’re going to continue trying to compare whose pokemon ranking is higher, I’m going to come straight out and tell you that you both suck because my Pikachu can own both of you any day.”
Silence reigned, as the leader and the blonde found themselves speechless.
Omake2:
There. He’s doing it again. Dong Woon had no idea why, but for the past few days, he’d been noticing that Hyun Seung seemed to be staring at him every time nobody’s looking. It was unnerving, and it made his face flush slightly when he remembered... That kiss... ‘Ah shit, it’s happening again.’
The two were the only ones in the lounge, the other members having gone to grab a drink, or two. Or three. Or five. But that’s not important. Anyway, it made the younger male nervous as Hyun Seung openly stared at him.
“Um.” He looked back, but his eyes darted downwards immediately, “Why are you staring at me, Hyung?” His eyes flickered back up, and for a moment, he saw Hyun Seung’s lips turn up into a smirk as he replied, “Well. I’m imagining stuff.”
“Imagining... Stuff?” Dong Woon blinked in surprise, “What do you mean by that?” Immediately he regretted asking, as Hyun Seung’s normally quiet and shy nature disappeared briefly for him to notice the amusement dancing in his eyes, “If you really want to know, it’s about you.” He paused, as if to let the information sink in to Dong Woon’s mind, “It’s about you, with your long legs wrapped around my waist, your hands clutching prettily down there and your face, all flushed up and moaning. ‘Hyun Seungie-oppa, please put your-”
“HYUNG!” He was cut off abruptly by Dong Woon, whose face was bright red. His eyes avoided Hyun Seung, “I...” His normally calm look was taken, scrounged up, and thrown out of the window as he tried to think of what he wanted to say. In the end, he only managed out a, “I’m not a girl!” Before he rushed out, leaving behind a very much amused Hyun Seung, and four very confused members as they walked back.
“Woah, what happened? Maknae looked like he ate twenty chilli peppers or something.” Yoseob asked, confused and surprised by the sudden departure. Hyun Seung shrugged, “Maybe he needed time to himself to forget about some scarring fan mail.” “Oh. Ouch.” The other members winced, understanding how Dong Woon must be feeling.
