Strange. We have a new Pope. Pope Benedict XVI.

He's 78 years old. I suppose he must be qualified for the job because he's likely to die soon.

This isn't an attempt at pissing off my Catholic friends. This is simply a statement of truth. You all know I still love you and your crazy religion.

In all likelihood, there wasn't a clear cut good candidate, so they picked a guy who'd not be around all that long, to give themselves more time to think about it.

yeah apparently this was John Paul's right hand man, so he knows what he's doing. they also went for an older man so they wouldnt have a 26 year reign like with Paul.
