Character info
Series/Fandom: Tales of the Abyss
Character's Name: Luke fon Fabre
Character's Sex: Male
Character's Age: 17 (7)
Canon point: Pre-Akzeriuth, on the Deo Pass.
Abilities: He has been training under Van Grants in Albert-style swordsmanship, and it's something he loves to do very much (mostly because he didn't have much else to do in his manor). It's one of the few things he takes very seriously and makes a big deal about it (for example; in the audio drama version of the game, he prided himself on finally mastering Fang Blade, and made sure that everyone around him knew it). In terms of game mechanics, Luke is about your average, run-of-the-mill swordsman-class character; his only downfall is at this point his skill list is... short. Very short.

Luke is also capable of generating a hyperresonance on his own. This hyper-stimulation of sound is very powerful, able to destroy anything it's pointed at, however, Luke has very little control over it. Because of this, he wouldn't be able to use it unless he completely lost control of himself, or someone forced him.
Strengths: Luke is actually pretty normal as far as fantasy characters are concerned. The majority of his abilities are physical only, with the exception of any FOF-changes his skills have, which come from the elements themselves. The exception, of course, is his hyperresonance, which comes from the Seventh Fonon.
Weaknesses: Luke's still in training, so his sword skills are not as up to par compared to what would be expected at his age. Not only that, but he's still just a normal human being; he is capable of being (and most likely will be) injured. Also, his ability to generate a hyperresonance on his own can cause more harm than good; he doesn't really have the know-how to control it on his own yet, and anyone that figured out how it worked could easily manipulate Luke into using it... to like, say, blow up an essential structure that maintains the world floating above a bottomless pit of poisonous sludge?

Luke is really afraid of taking the lives of others; he tries to avoid it, even if it is a monster. At this point he has come to a grim acceptance of it, but it is obvious that it still bothers him, and still affects how well he can fight.
Background: Luke at Tales Wikia.
Appearance: The Paopu'd Ambassador Asshat.
Personality: "Spoiled brat" sums up Luke just nicely. He's stubborn, obnoxious, and spoiled, and often throws temper tantrums when he doesn't get his way, or when people try to tell him things in anything other than simple speech, or when something goes wrong, or... well, often. Very often. These temper tantrums usually involve flailing, screaming, and just general hissy fits. Luke bores easily, and has very little patience for anything, and if there's something that doesn't have to do with him, it's unlikely it will hold his interest for very long. He does have some redeeming qualities, as he can be unintentionally kind and has a high regard for the lives of others, even non-human creatures, but these qualities are often quickly masked by him being a jerk "White Prince" right away. He's also quite ignorant of the world and how manipulative people can be, and anyone with a modicum of charisma could easily get him to do whatever they wanted.

His stubbornness gets Luke into trouble more often than not. Once he sets his mind to something, he keeps going for it until he either succeeds, or forces beyond his control stop him (and even then that may fail to stop him, unless the 'forces beyond his control' beat him to a pulp). While Luke is a fighter, he has an extreme reluctance to kill, to the point of having been afraid to do so. He has expressed remorse over having to do so in the past, and will often attempt to avoid fighting at all costs. Despite his dislike of dangerous situations, he tends to have a bit of a curious streak that leads to painful lessons, not all of which sink in right away. He's also blunt and honest to a fault; he could hide things if someone (like Van) told him to, but at this point he probably couldn't outright lie even if he wanted to.

Luke's priorities are rather skewed sometimes; he hates having to sacrifice his nice and clean clothes for the sake of anything, even something that he absolutely has to do. He also almost has NO people skills, and there's very few people he really listens to or even respects. His precious Master Van is pretty much the only one he holds in high regard, and will pretty much do anything he says without questioning, as he views him as more of a father than he does his "real" father. He also has a bit of respect for Tear (though he doesn't trust her just yet), and sometimes also listens to Guy as well, though most times it's Guy that ends up sighing and nodding in agreement to whatever Luke says, not the other way around.
Strengths: It's really hard to find many strengths in Luke's personality as he is at this point in his canon. He does not have very many shining qualities, but buried under all his complaining is a heart of gold, despite how much he tries to deny it. He really, genuinely cares for people, and also doesn't want to see anyone suffer and die, even though he claims indifference to the welfare of others. His bullheadedness could also be seen as a strength, as he'll stop at nothing to get something done, though he doesn't always think things through.
Weaknesses: Luke is easy to send flying off the handle; every time something doesn't go his way, he has a hissy fit, sometimes of epic proportions. He can be awkward in situations that most people would be able to handle with little trouble, and dismissive of everything and anything he doesn't understand. This is mostly due to the fact that in reality, he's a seven-year-old in the body of a teenager. Luke was created, not born, through a processes known as Fomicry, and as such, he's really only lived for seven years. He was kept locked up in his manor, with only his parents, Van, and the servants to keep him company. He was given everything he wanted, perhaps even more than that, and therefore grew up spoiled and emotionally stunted.

Action/Journal Sample:
[Here is Luke. Here is Luke with his communicator so close to his face that only his eyes jerking back and forth can be seen on the screen.]

Hnnnnnn...? I don't get this thing. How are people supposed to know I'm talking to them?

[His eyes move away, only to be replaced with his mouth. Looks like someone didn't floss before falling into Darkness. And what does one do when they're not sure people can hear them?]

HELLO?! CAN YOU HEAR ME?! HEY, IS ANYONE OUT THERE?!

[Shout as obnoxiously loud as possible, what else?]

[He finally pulled away to a normal distance, his face twisted up into a frown.]

Man, this is stupid... where's Guy when you need him...?

[And the picture goes dead suddenly... only, not really. Luke just shoved the communicator in his pocket without turning it off.]
RP Sample:
Luke didn't like suddenly appearing in places that were totally new and totally strange. It had happened to him once before, but at least then he had arrived in said totally weird and totally strange place with Tear. Granted, if she got any colder he would probably freeze while just standing next to her, but if she hadn't been with him, he probably would have ended up dead or worse... not that he would ever admit this.

Still, he was finding himself in the same situation. All he had done was trip on a rock while walking down the trails of the Deo Pass. It wasn't even his fault; the rock just randomly rolled out in front of him! Still, he tripped over that stupid rock, and ended up going face first off the path into some black gunky stuff. He didn't even get a chance to see what the hell it was, just that everything was black and then he passed out.

And here he was.

There was buildings around him, and a night sky far above, far removed from the mountain trail he had been on previously. There was a funny smell too, almost like there was an animal nearby. Luke let his head fall to the side... and sure enough, there was a white bear with a big red nose and a red... bobby... thingie sticking out of its head, holding an Icecream in its hand as it stared at him. Luke stared back at it for a long moment, before letting out a shriek, shooting upright and backpedaling away. The bear let out its own shriek, shooting away itself. There was a long moment, where the two of them just stared at each other, before the bear hesitantly approached.

"Y-you startled me, kupo," the bear thing began. "Are you all right, kupo?"

Luke's eyebrow twitched; oh god, it talked like Mieu!

"Fine..." he groused. "Where the hell am I?"

"You're in Traverse Town, kupo," it answered. "It seems your world was--"

Dammit, he couldn't take it anymore. Luke suddenly shot forward and grabbed the thing, shaking it as hard as he could. Maybe it was the stress from having everyone criticizing him, or maybe it was because of suddenly appearing somewhere else again, but he just could not stand this thing.

"DAMMIT, JUST TALK LIKE A NORMAL HUMAN BEING IF YOU'RE GOING TO USE HUMAN LANGUAGE!!!"

He finally stopped after a moment, leaving the poor teddy bear dazed in his hands, the red-bobby-thingie hanging as limp as the rest of the creature.
