Don't worry about it--if your mum didn't experience those side effects in the first week, she probably won't experience them at all. At least, that's my understanding. Plus, yeah, she's got your dad to make sure she doesn't cook or drive while she's sleeping. And there are plenty of people who take Ambien with no ill effects :)
